The most recent numbers were extremely positive, as well. Among investors, 54% were bullish, with 27% bearish and 19% on the fence.

That euphoric and reckless mentality is what will propel the Melt Up to its final peak. But it’s also a warning sign we want to be aware of.
These are not normal times. But the craziness gives us an opportunity to profit. You must take advantage of it while you can.

The proportion of newsletter writers classified in Investors Intelligence’s weekly survey as being in the camp calling for a market correction rose to 31% at the end of July, near the highest level since early 2020.

When RSI rises to 70 and above
The RSI weekly chart gives a more reliable and accurate signal.
RSI must be 70 or higher and remain above that level to generate an overbought signal. This is a clue that SPX (or another index or stock) is overbought. Hint: Sometimes indexes or stocks will reverse before reaching 70.
As every technician knows, just because a stock or index is overbought doesn’t mean it will reverse immediately. Securities can remain overbought for long time periods before reversing.
Do not use RSI to time when the market may reverse. Instead, use it as a guide.

About 56 percent of all recommendations on S&P 500 firms are listed as buys, the most since 2002.
In Europe, about 52 percent of recommendations on Stoxx 600 firms are buy or equivalent, a 10-year high.
In Asia, that number jumps to 75 percent, the highest proportion since at least 2010.
US profit growth of 90 percent was 17 percentage points better than expected, while a 71 percent rise in Europe surprised positively by 16 percentage points.

60% of respondents now anticipate global equity markets this year will enter a bearish state where security prices fall at least 20%. This is up from just 30% of respondents.
Inexperienced investors lacking experience in downturns are often “spooked” and end up waiting too long to buy in.
Some experts believe that investors should be patient rather than early.
