Tesla Plans to Raise Output at Shanghai Plant: Report

Tesla, Inc. (TSLA.US) is planning to increase output of its Shanghai factory in the next two months to meet the market panic buying, triggered by sharp price cuts of its best-selling models, Reuters reported.

According to the report, Tesla had planned to reduce production at the Shanghai plant by one-third starting in November this year and extend the Lunar New Year holiday for workers.

However, Tesla plans to increase the average weekly production of the Shanghai plant to about 20,000 vehicles in February and March this year, after cutting prices by 6-14%.

Cathie Wood Names the 1 Stock She'd Buy Today If She HAD to Hold It For 10 Years

by COLETTE BENNETT

TSLA is at $180, if you do hold, don't trade it, will scale to $1500 in our base case.

So almost tenfold, in five years. Why? Because electric vehicles have entered the sweet spot of their S curve and Tesla is leading the charge,

Is Now Our Chance to Buy Tesla (TSLA) at a Steep Discount? Read This First.

by Keith Kaplan

Tesla’s Quantum Score is 70.7, which is not in the perfect sweet spot but is quite good. The ideal score to buy is usually in the 80s, and I avoid stocks under 50.

Big Money has mostly sold Tesla over the last three months, and not surprisingly, shares are down nearly 25% in that time.

Taking all of these factors into consideration, I see a probable buying opportunity in TSLA right now.

Fundamentals remain strong. Price action is improving. And the stock is following its usual pattern of rallying after Big Money sells.

But one of our key factors is missing – Big Money buying.

Tesla raised the prices of its Model Y SUV in the US late on Friday (Feb 3).

The cost of the Model Y Long Range has increased by US$1,500 to US$54,990, while the Model Y Performance is up US$1,000 to US$57,990, according to the company’s website.

The move comes after the Biden administration introduced measures to make more crossover SUVs qualify for the newly revamped electric vehicle (EV) tax credit.

The change, announced on Friday by the Treasury Department, expands the number of consumers who can take advantage of a lucrative US$7,500 consumer tax credit by broadening the definition of how a sport-utility vehicle is defined.

Under the Inflation Reduction Act, SUVs costing up to US$80,000 can now receive the tax credits.

Tesla sold 66,951 China-made EVs in January.

That was up 18% from December and 10% higher from a year earlier.

Its market share in China's battery electric car sector rose to 12.5% in January from 9% in December, according to a Reuters calculation.

The U.S. company was the second best-selling EV maker in China last month after BYD Co Ltd, which shipped 150,164 cars, the CPCA said.
