Our Non-Separate Relationship

We’re in a fundamentally non-separate relationship with at least 7 billion other humans plus all other planetary life, plus those yet to be born and whatever others inhabit all other realms, galaxies, universes.

This Precious Body

It is important to remember that the body is also beautiful and precious as well as subject to transiency and decay — maybe even because it is subject to transiency and decay.

Sound Choices

When we make choices with sound thought, our life becomes abundant.

Our heart opens and we start to notice the suffering of others; wisdom and equanimity are cultivated.

The Power of Prayer

Prayer does involve a discipline of practiced attentiveness but it’s more than a concentration of thought, a knitting of one’s brows.

Contemplative prayer is what gets you out of your head entirely.

Remember Where We Came From

One of the definitions of mindfulness is to remember.

We can’t be who we are without remembering who we come from and where we come from.

The Light of Love

Living life in touch with divine spirit, lets us see the light of love in all living beings. That light is a resurrecting life force.

A Clean and Bright Heart

Make your heart clean and bright with generosity, moral virtue and meditation.

Keep your thoughts, words and deeds at equilibrium, secluded from evil both inside and out.

Using Our Sorrow

Reflecting on impermanence, is not meant to make us miserable.

But without that sorrow of knowing nothing will last, we will never get anywhere on our path.

Anger versus Compassion

Whatever anger promises to do for us, compassion can do better.

As a conception, compassion involves sensitivity to the suffering of someone together with the wish that they be freed from that suffering.
