Biggest Bitcoin Fund Hits 45% Discount as Parent’s Woes Deepen

The Grayscale Bitcoin Trust (ticker GBTC) closed a record 45% below the value of its underlying coins on Friday.

GBTC’s share price has plunged 77% in 2022, compared with Bitcoin’s 65% fall.

Grayscale shared a letter from Coinbase Chief Financial Officer Alesia Haas saying that the trust’s coins are in cold storage and can’t be lent out.

FTX contagion spreads as hedge fund defaults on US$36 mil debt

Maple Finance severed ties with a hedge fund that defaulted on almost US$36 million worth of crypto loans on its platform.

Sydney-based Orthogonal Trading said it defaulted on a US$10 million loan after being “severely impacted by the collapse of FTX and associated trading activities”.
