Most expensive surfboard: A $500k Roy Stewart longboard

Image

We have earlier told you about the world’s most advanced surfboard which was equipped with an accelerometer, gyroscope along with a GPS system. The latest surfboard that we are talking about is not that technologically advanced, but is the world’s most expensive surfboard. Crafted by Roy Stuart, this Baron surfboard costs $528,000.

The board is made longer and heavier, and so it guarantees fast ride. 12-feet long and 45-pound heavy, this long board is inspired by the ‘Olo longborads’, which were exclusively crafted for the royals during pre-colonial era.

The Roy Stuart boards are always known for their hydro-dynamically advanced features like the parallel profile construction, that is very different from the normal surfboard which is hollow.

The surfboard is made by using the layers of Paulowina wood and is laminated over a mold just like layering fiberglass on the hull of a ship. The board can be customized according to the specifications of the purchaser. The special technique, which makes the board thinner and faster, costs 500 times more than your average surfboard.

Russia's Orbital Technologies plans to create space hotel priced at $1 million per visit

Image

As Richard Branson’s Virgin Galactic is leading the way in space tourism, others who are taking the plunge in this genre for leisure, recreational or business purposes include the Russian company, Orbital Technologies, who has unveiled the design for its first space hotel.

We recently told you about the Bloon space travelling balloon which would take you to near space and show the earth like you would never have seen before. But having a complete vacation is a new concept, which we had earlier shown in the Galactic Suite space resort and Orbital Technologies space hotel takes this adventure travel to new heights with its $1 million vacation plan.

The price tag of the vacation has been mainly due to the cost of the 2 day trip that it will take for the passengers to reach the space hotel, apart from the cost of accommodation in the unique spaceship cum hotel.

A special Soyuz rocket manned by experienced crew will accompany the chosen 7 guests to the hotel in space, and show them the galactic space never seen before up close.

The hotel itself has 4 cabins for these guests and staff members, and will avail every comfort possible on the spaceship hotel. Delicacies like potato soup, braised veal cheeks with mushrooms will be cooked on earth and taken along in special containers for service to the guests who would be experiencing and enjoying the weightless vacation in the hotel.

For relaxation, the guests also have the choice of using vertical or horizontal beds. Practical aspects like human waste management have also been looked into. Instead of the abundant supply of water like in normal hotel facilities, more of flowing air will be used to keep the toilets clean. Also, facilities of waste water management have been included to make sure that the limited supply is most optimally used.

It all sounds rather exotic and surely exciting, and shall be perfect for the uber-rich adventurer. But how it all turns out, remains to be seen in 2016, when the hotel is finally stated to open for visits.

World's most expensive T-shirt costs $50,000 by Megha Chaturvedi

Image

For the people who have been spending thousands of dollars in shopping from big brands like Gucci, Armani and Louis Vuitton, would not certainly mind splurging on the world’s most expensive T-shirt that costs $50,000. The T-shirts are designed by Daniel J, who is the founder and designer of 50K Tees.

These T-shirts are limited in numbers as only 20 of these will be produced. According to the designer, the reason to produce these tees was that only a few people could afford to own them. The T-shirts are of 100 percent cotton, black in color with a front design.

Each T-shirt features a unique number and a certificate of authenticity. These collectable items with nos. 3, 14, and 19, have already been sold, and are taken by the rich fashion followers. The sizes available are:

Women’s Sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL

Men’s sizes: XS, S, M, L, XL, XXL, XXXL

About the customers, designer Daniel J. stated, “Our customers range from T-shirt collectors to rock stars, the cool, trendy and wealthy crowd.”

10 percent of the proceedings would go to the charity of the buyer’s choice, who will be the proud owner of these limited T-shirts. Each T-shirt is wrapped in a gift box, and requires signature of the bearer on delivery.

Well, neither these T-shirts are made of most luxuriant Egyptian cotton like the most expensive shirt, nor are these adorned with diamonds and precious stone as in $1.3 Million Jeans, hence the price $50,000 doesn’t seem to be justified.

Project Utopia island yacht might be your next exotic residence by Wrik Sen

At a time when government policies and expanding human populations make everyday life rather undesirable to lead, there is a clamoring amongst rich to create their additional exclusive space.

Hence, thinking on these lines brought forward an idea of creating island nations yachts, which would have virtually everything that one might need for himself.

The current pioneer of this idea is the Utopia Island yacht created by BMT Nigel Gee & Yacht Island Design of the UK.

Behold the $19,000 gold shoe laces by Wrik Sen

Image

This is how you would say, ‘tying yourself up in gold’.

After Nike’s golden boot tribute to Ronaldo, Marianne Vos gold cycling shoes, and the custom made Nike golden ladies shoes, its Mr. Kennedy’s turn to create gold shoe laces worth $19,000 a pair.

Embalmed with 14 K of pure gold, these blinged shoe laces will certainly make heads turn towards you, and ensure a royal step in time.

Investing 120 hours of Columbian craftsmen’s hard work and detailing, these special laces have been given 14 carat treatment each, along with generous use of the precious yellow metal for the tips.

If these are not your style, you could always opt for the silver ones (also pictured above), which carry a price tag of $3,000 a pair.

British boot maker John Lobb designs $7,000 sandals for men
by Megha Chaturvedi

Image

Renowned British boot maker, John Lobb, is all set to launch an expensive pair of men slippers for the first time in the Middle East region.

John Lobb would roll out its very first collection known as "Spirits of Capitals" in the Dubai Mall (UAE). The footwear will be on display on 2nd-12th November 2011.

The sandals are made of crocodile skin and have already been on a world tour to take shoemaking to another level. They are created to celebrate the essence of 11 major cities of the world and are inspired by each city.

John’s design teams were given the task to create two pairs of sandals that best represent their city. The teams were sent to different cities like Hong Kong, New York, Seoul, Moscow, Beijing, Geneva and Dubai and got many designs like the Balmoral-style Oxfords reminiscent of Paris, hand stitched platform moccasins of Taipei, the Derby low boots of London etc.

Finally a pair that represents the true essence of Dubai was chosen to be the part of the collection. The sandals are inspired by the classic John Lobb William monk shoe. They have a double adjusting strap that ensures complete comfort to the wearer’s foot. The super smooth insole is made of lambskin that gives a feel of ultimate luxury.

The sandals are hand stitched just like John Lobb’s other shoes. The brand has been creating men shoes since 1866. The Spirits of Capitals sandals are available only on order as the brand first takes the correct measurement of your foot and hands over a perfect pair after six to eight months of efforts. Each pair will cost whopping $7,350.
