haha.... my son maybe a BIG kid, but he is a softie inside...

The teachers will handle this la....

If I was a teacher and this was some 30yrs ago, I would probably slap the girls. I remember back when I was in Primary school, if you come home complaining about being punished by the teacher, you get walloped one more time by the parents. Nowadays, parents just go to the Police Station.

This is a real case. One pupil's father actually lodge a police case against a teacher, just because the teacher shouted at his naughty boy.

Why are we educated?

What is the true function of an educator ? What is education ? Why are we educated ?

Are we educated at all ? Because you pass a few examinations, have a job, competing, struggling, brutalizing ambition, is that education ?

What is an educator ? Is he one who prepares the student for a job, merely for a job, for technical achievement in order to earn a livelihood ? That is all we know at present.

There are vast schools, universities where you prepare the youth, boy or girl, to have a job, to have technical knowledge so that he or she can have a livelihood. Is that alone the function of a true educator ?

There must be something more than that, because it is too mechanical. So you say that the educator must be an example. You agree with that ?

You will have to follow the truth of the matter, to go into it. When you go into it you will see the truth of it, namely, no example is necessary.

S'pore Poly top choice
It receives most applications, but Ngee Ann draws more higher-scoring O-level students

By Jennani Durai

SINGAPORE Polytechnic (SP) has regained its spot as the polytechnic of choice among students, after Ngee Ann Polytechnic (NP) topped students' lists last year.

In the Joint Admissions Exercise last month, SP received the most number of applications listing the institution as the applicant's first choice. Last year, it came in second to NP. But there was some consolation for NP: It drew the most students with O-level aggregate scores of 10 and below.

When contacted, both schools declined comment, saying they did not want to compare. But that did not stop either from announcing the news to their staff and celebrating the respective successes.

Both polytechnics announced an extra day off for their staff, to be taken any time this year, according to e-mail circulars sent out to staff of each school.

'The principal felt we did a lot of work to attract this number of students, and if this is the result of that hard work, we should get a day off as a reward,' said an SP lecturer who declined to be named.

The Straits Times understands that of the 21,100 students who opted for places in polytechnics in this year's exercise, 6,943 chose SP while 5,945 picked NP.

My kid has to do some research on 'What they can make with XYZ flowers?'

After observing how she skim through the Google results, I decided that it is better for her to step away from the computer, think about what she can create with the flower first before embarking on this research assignment.

The rationale is simple:
- Like most Internet users (myself included), we tend to place trust in the search engine.
- If we can find it, then it is 'there'. But, what if it is not 'there yet'.
- eg. What if this thing have not been created yet? Or it has not been published yet? An invention.
- Just like we will never find information on this financial crisis back in early 2007.
1. Always wait for the setup. NO SETUP; NO TRADE

2. The trend will END but I don't know WHEN.

Let me blain storm for you :)

1. Put the flowers in tea and make flower tea
2. Mash up the petals and add water - viola! A homemade pH indicator. Try adding diluted vinegar and diluted shampoo to observe colour changes
3. Use some watercolors and dip the flowers into it, making your own batik prints onto drawing paper
4. Take a bunch of them, string them up together to make a hawaii flower necklace. Must pierce thru the stalk, not the petals

The boy's school is having a "SHOW AND TELL" session for English lessons. In it, they bring their favorite object and do a 2-3 minute presentation during their English classes.

One of the kids brought a Nintendo DS to school and it was stolen after the SHOW AND TELL.

The school's teachers and discipline master had no choice but to search the schoolbags of all the children.

They found the stolen DS in a girl's bag, which she later confessed to the crime. Can you believe it?? :? :?

I think this is indicative of a larger problem within our society. :(
