When you find yourself critical of the way anyone has attracted or is using money, you are pushing money away from yourself.

even if this notion has any semblance of truth...i will still choose to be critical at times...

for example...supposing i am aware that person X has accumulated his wealth distributing cocaine.... i will surely be critical of his livelihood..and most probably report him to the authorities... if that means i am pushing money away from me... so be it... but i very highly suspect this will be the consequence...

Can Money Really Buy Happiness?

Research shows that it can—and for less than you think. Here's how to spend wisely.
By Brett Graff, Good Housekeeping

It's one of our oldest, most enduring clichés: Money can't buy happiness. We all know what it means—that true happiness comes from things that can't be found in any store, like love, friendship and gratitude. But new research shows that, contrary to that common wisdom, money can buy you happiness—if you know where to spend it. And the bright news in these gloomy economic times is that joy can be affordable on any budget.

The golden rule: Devote your dollars to things that further your goals and beliefs, says Leaf Van Boven, Ph.D., an associate professor of psychology and neuroscience at the University of Colorado at Boulder who, along with other researchers, has been teasing out the links between money and happiness.

"It's now very clear that nurturing the things that you value—whether that's becoming more cultured or redesigning your garden—is what makes people happier," says Van Boven. It's not that material goods are perpetually disappointing, he adds. But when you're intent on acquiring them, you tend to compare your possessions to other people's. As a result, you gain only the feeling of wanting more. Purchases that support your own values, however, are more satisfying because they help to boost your feelings of self-worth.

What It Really Takes To Become Wealthy By Michael Masterson

"I don't have your attitude," Jeff said to me. "I just don't have the mindset of someone who can make a lot of money."

"Do you want to make a lot of money?" I asked him.

"That's the sad thing," he said, smiling wryly. "I do."

"Well then," I said, "why don't you forget about your attitude and focus on your behavior?"

"What do you mean?"

"Why don't you stop thinking about why you can't make a lot of money and do something to make it happen?"

"Such as?"

I handed him a piece of paper. "Start by writing down how much you'd like to be worth in 20 years."

He did it.

"Now," I said, "let's talk about how you can build up to that number, year by year."

By the end of an hour, he had net worth goals for 20 years running. His target for the current year was very achievable. He was motivated.

"This is great!" he said.

"How do you feel about it?"

"I think I can do it."

Attitude can change behavior, but it is much more common for behavior to change attitude.

To put it another way: Getting wealthy doesn't depend as much on whether you are a positive person or a negative one as it does on the specific actions you take, or fail to take.

There is so much misinformation about this subject in the self-help industry.

The wannabes out there want to believe there is a mental switch inside them that, if they could find it, would instantly transform them from couch potatoes to human money machines.

"The switch is somewhere in your brain," they argue. "Find it, trip it, and the rest is easy."

If the only thing you are willing to do is think about getting richer, you are going to be disappointed.

You may not like what I'm saying, but you need to hear it. Please trust me on that.

I am not saying that I don't believe in positive thinking. I absolutely believe that it helps in many ways.

When I brush my teeth every morning, I smile at myself in the mirror at least a dozen times to give me energy and put me in a productive mood. And when I'm going to give a speech, participate in a wrestling match, or make a presentation, I use visualization to mentally prepare myself to do well.

But those things are not going to turn me into a money magnet.

To develop the power to create wealth, you need to take certain very specific wealth-building actions. And each time you complete one of those actions, you will feel a deep change inside you.

That's what you really need -- a change in your wealth-building habits and behaviors.

On Money:-

Give up trying so hard to get rich. Your money flies away before you know it, just like an eagle suddenly taking off.

There are four ways in which you can spend money.

You can spend your own money on yourself. When you do that, why then you really watch out what you're doing, and you try to get the most for your money.

Then you can spend your own money on somebody else. For example, I buy a birthday present for someone. Well, then I'm not so careful about the content of the present, but I'm very careful about the cost.

Then, I can spend somebody else's money on myself. And if I spend somebody else's money on myself, then I'm sure going to have a good lunch!

Finally, I can spend somebody else's money on somebody else. And if I spend somebody else's money on somebody else, I'm not concerned about how much it is, and I'm not concerned about what I get. And that's government.

( And if they screwed up, they will tell you it's an honest mistake ! )

Money is important but not that everything in the whole scheme of things

One of my ex-managers introduced me to a RMB billionaire ( > Sin$200m ) this week.

This RMB billionaire was born in the year of dragon so he's about 45 years old. He made his money in real estate.

This RMB billionaire is looking for someone to run his Financial Services company. ( He has had 5 Presidents in 4 years ).

It was a short polite meeting. There was no real chemistry between us.

My takeaway from the meeting:
Money is important but not that everything in the whole scheme of things

How did I reach the above conclusion ?
This RMB Billionaire is in a wheelchair. He's paralysed from the waist down. His left hand is missing. His right hand was half missing. I shaked hand with his half missing right hand. ( He has had a car accident 7 years ago and was also hospitalized for 7 months ).

So I have been telling myself to stop complaining so much and try to enjoy my life as much as I can ...

You are right when you think, Money isn't everything. You certainly do not need money to have joy in your experience.

But in your society—where so much of what you live is tied to money in some way—most of you associate money with freedom.

And since freedom is a basic tenet of your being, then coming into alignment with money will help you establish a balanced footing that will be of value to you in all other aspects of your experience.
