Nvidia stock sell-off is overdone, Goldman Sachs analyst says

Nvidia is inexpensive following a record breaking selloff

by Madison Mills and Brian Sozzi

"First of all, demand for accelerated computing continues to be really strong. We tend to spend quite a bit of time on the hyperscalers — the Amazons, the Googles, the Microsofts of the world — but you are seeing a broadening in the demand profile into enterprise, even at the sovereign states."

Goldman estimates that generative AI will begin materially contributing to sector growth by the second half of 2025.

Nvidia A100 and H100 AI chips are cheaper to rent in China than in the US, a sign the advanced processors are easily reaching China despite US export restrictions, the FT reports.

Noting 4 small China cloud providers charge local tech groups US$6 an hour to use a server with eight Nvidia A100 processors in a base configuration.

The same costs $10 in the US. Nvidia H100 GPUs are also readily available.

One China cloud vendor said higher prices paid for smuggled Nvidia chips are offset by cheap engineers and cheap power. $NVDA $TSM #semiconductors #semiconductor

Nvidia's biggest problem might be about to get even worse

by Rob Lenihan

U.S. officials have discussed limiting sales of advanced AI chips from Nvidia and other American companies on a country-specific basis.

The big issue is that ASML's bookings for the September quarter were down sharply compared to the June quarter.

In response to U.S. export controls, the developers are working with brokers to access computing power overseas, sometimes masking their identity using techniques from the cryptocurrency world.

The buyers and sellers of computing power and the middlemen connecting them aren’t breaking any laws.

Cloud companies said the export rules don’t restrict Chinese companies or their foreign affiliates from accessing U.S. cloud services using Nvidia chips.

Nvidia CEO Jensen Huang said on Wednesday (Oct 23) a design flaw with its latest Blackwell AI chips which impacted production has been fixed with the help of longtime Taiwanese manufacturing partner TSMC.

“We had a design flaw in Blackwell,” Huang said. “It was functional, but the design flaw caused the yield to be low. It was 100 per cent Nvidia’s fault.”
