Preparing the markets for a rise in interest rates? Or just pretending that they will raise interest rates? Any rise in interest rates will be very painful for the US government as they would need to pay more for their record debt..

Higher interest rates would be good for the country, Treasury Secretary Yellen says

The former Federal Reserve chair said the president’s plans would total about $400 billion each year — a level of spending she argued was not enough to create an inflation over-run.

“If we ended up with a slightly higher interest rate environment it would actually be a plus for society’s point of view and the Fed’s point of view,” Yellen told Bloomberg.

The Biggest Threat to the Market is Here and No-One Seems to Care … But You Should

by Shah Gilani

There are many threats to a bull market, but there is one singular, systemic threat that everyone should be afraid of: rising interest rates.

As of October 2021, the Fed’s sitting on $8.56 trillion in so-called assets.

That means the Fed printed $4.4 trillion, more than doubling the assets on its balance sheet since the pandemic started.

To save face, the Fed is going to cut down it’s spending on assets (which currently costs them $120 billion every month).

But more importantly, it will lower the amount of money flowing into banks and the economy, so investors are going to have less money to invest with.
