I dont know really know how to appreciate art.

So when I went to the Van Gogh Museum a few years ago, I did not really know how to enjoy his masterpieces.

The tour mentioned that his strokes were bold and full of anger. It was only then that I noticed it on his paintings, especially the self portraits.

dark self-portrait is a reflection of one innerself.

And in Van Gogh's case, the portrait showed the incident where he cut his earlobe (or is it ear?) off.

I can't see how colorful that can be. Difficult time for him... I think.

Towards the end, I think he was in a mental hospital.

I rcall seeing a self-portrait and he painted a lot of energy field around himself. Orange in color. Very angry :D

Having said that, I quite like his Wheat Field, Starry Night and Iris.
