On CNBC:-

Over the past few weeks, BHP was supposedly accumulating AUD, to be used for their acquisition. Hence the strong AUD ...

Question is whether the deal will go through or not; seems it have reached the stage of currency accumulation, from USD to AUD? or another :?:

Does anyone know how I can hedge a small amount of AUD exposure, for a period of 3-9 months?

I'm looking to sell off a small overseas asset, maybe AUD 150 to 200K ('peanuts' in sg), then convert to SGD. Would like to lock in the current exchange rate which seems favorable. Scared of the volatility: 15-30% change in a few weeks...

I've no opinion on the the exchange rates and no interest in forex. Would just be happy to accept the current rate of 1.3+

Suppose your property is in Australia, check with an Australian Bank for a 9 months forward contract of SGD/AUD base on settlement by TT to Singapore.

Vested

AUD @ 1.0921

But if I sell, they will convert it to SGD and I dont want my money in SGD.

So I have to look for another currency to convert the money to ... :?

Any comments ?

I certainly won't convert AUD to US, HK, Ringgit or any other weaker currencies etc.

Perhaps you can convert to RMB , a big country and population too
