they are so paranoid that you can hardly find a trashbin along walking pavement anywhere in london... so, the entire city is one big gigantic rubbish bin.... everyone who smokes, litter their cigarette butts everywhere...

oh...20km out off city of london, westminster, islington, camden, southwark, kensington, etc....

very cheap....

you can have a HOUSE, 3 bedrooms, with garden, garage, your private car pavement, etc... for anything between GBP 150K-180K

2 bedroom type can be GBP80K...no joke... but these are suah pars, far far away from city ones.. more like a small village...

but of cos, there are also rundown castles going for GP200-300K.... so, if you can spend another GBP50K to renovate it up...you can live like a Baron...complete with butler and sip tea in the garden everyday reading Pride and Prejudice....hahaha...

and this is what some of these people do.... they stay 60-100km away....everyday take their railway commute 1.5hr to london....and spend GBP4K annual on train fares... but they get to have a affordable huge house

anyways...i can tell you...the brits here dun earn alot of money seriously.... example...a fresh univ grad earns less than GBP1.8K-2K/month
their sandwich costs GBP2.95-3.95 for 2 slices of bread + some vege + meats...and this the cheapest you can find, eg from Pret A Manger, EAT, etc...tesco sells GBP2 meals (sandiwch + small coke/juice + small potatoe chips)...but usually their labourers/receptionist people buy them....those working in office, pai seh to buy this deal....
if they buy a simple vege salad (3 selections), easily GBP3.95....jia buay pah one....
if they walk into a restaurant and makan...easily GBP7-10 per simple meal....meat pie, hot drink, a tomatoe soup

so, you see... unless you earn substantial amount of money, these young working adults are feeding from hand to mouth....and the rentals in the city is like GBP400-600 per week.... how can they afford? of cos cannot...so, they stay very far away....wake up at 5am...take 1.5hr train + 20 mins undergound....everyday....

that's why there are so many legal loan sharks here...they even advrtise on TV....they entice people to borrow GBP50-100 ... sibei jialat one...

20km - 100km.

The equivalent in SG, will be staying in Malaysia's project Iskandar area.
1. Always wait for the setup. NO SETUP; NO TRADE

2. The trend will END but I don't know WHEN.

anyways....for those of you who did spend some time in london 20 years ago....and if you visit now, you will notice a stark difference....

Fish and Chips shops are almost all gone.... replaced by sandwiches and latte shops...

they joking call themselves a sandwich nation now....

sorry bro CM... i completely missed out your post...

here's the estimated psf pricing....you guys more attuned to this mode of comparison...

generally rental yield is between 3-5% annually...

condos with river thames view.... generally GBP1000-1200 psf
40 storey condos high floor, central london ... generally GBP1000 psf
south kensington/kensington area ... generally GBP1500-2000 psf
nottinghill area ... generally GBP900 psf
barbican area .... generally GBP900 psf
strand street (where Savoy Hotel is located) ... generally GBP950 psf
tooley street/borough market (just next to london bridge underground), which is 50 metres inland from river thames (means no river view) ... generally GBP750 psf
regent's park ... generally GBP750 psf
rosebery ave (islington borough) ... next to a London School of Economics campus.. generally GBP650 psf
covent garden area ... generally GBP650 psf
bermondsey south area ... generally GBP500 psf
bermondsey west wall area (which is river facing) ... generally GBP1000-1200 psf (hence u realize the premium placed on view)
st katherine's docks (next to tower bridge)...generally GBP950 psf
wapping area (next to st kat's docks)... generally 1000 psf (cos of river view)
canary wharf ... generally GBP 900 psf

all in all.... compared to prices in 2000... Jan 2011 prices have on average increased some 90%... but it is now abt 10-15% lower than 2006 prices...

everywhere oso same nonsense on corruption...

there's this 20 year serving MP in the house of commons.... who pleaded guilty to 3 charges of fraud this morning... he apparently over claimed some taxes, as a privilege of an MP, amounting to a mere GBP14K and consequently, he could be sent to jail for more than 12 months.. and likely to be ousted as an MP from parliament....sentencing to handed out later...
