Inspiration comes forth from within.

It's what the light burning within you is about, as opposed to motivation, which is doing it because if you don't do it, there will be negative repercussions.

Motivation is making myself do something that I don't really want to do. Inspiration is having the clear picture of what I am wanting -- and letting Universal forces come into play to get the outcome.

Looking at sorrow with complete silence

There is the enormous fact of sorrow which man has never been able to go beyond; he may escape from it through drink, through all the various forms of escapes, but that is not going beyond it, that is avoiding it.

Now, there is the fact—as the fact of death, as the fact of time—can you look at it with complete silence?

Can you look at your own sorrow with complete silence; not that the thing is so great, or such magnitude, of such complexity that it forces you to be quiet, but the other way round; can you look at it, knowing the magnitude, knowing how extraordinarily complex life and living and death are?

Can you look at it completely objectively and silently? I think that is the way out. I use the words “I think” hesitatingly, but really that is the only way out.

No matter what the issue is, don't try to justify why you don't feel good.

And don't try to justify why you should feel differently. Don't try to blame whatever it is you think the reason is that's keeping you from feeling good.

All of that is wasted effort. Just try to feel better right now.

The mansion called life must be built on a strong foundation. The pursuit of Wealth and Welfare, of all desirable objects must be regulated by the standard of Righteousness.

Righteousness fosters those who foster it. The strongest foundation is ever-present faith in the Divine.

Love and sorrow and death are one

You know, to live with the beauty of those mountains and not get accustomed to it, is very difficult. Most of you have been here now for nearly three weeks. You have beheld those mountains, heard the stream, and seen the shadows creep across the valley, day after day; and have you not noticed how easily you get used to it all?

You say, “Yes, it is quite beautiful,” and you pass by. To live with beauty, or to live with an ugly thing, and not become habituated to it requires enormous energy—an awareness that does not allow your mind to grow dull.

In the same way, sorrow dulls the mind if you merely get used to it—and most of us do get used to it. But you need not get used to sorrow. You can live with sorrow, understand it, go into it—but not in order to know about it.

You know that sorrow is there; it is a fact, and there is nothing more to know. You have to live with sorrow, and to live with it you must love it; and then you will find that love and sorrow and death are one.

Even in your rightness about a subject, when you try to push your rightness toward another who disagrees, no matter how right you are, it causes more pushing against.

In other words, it isn't until you stop pushing that any real allowing of what you want can take place.

Ending of the body

There is old age. And there is this extraordinary thing called death, of which most of us are dreadfully frightened.

If we are not frightened, we have rationalized this phenomenon intellectually and have accepted the edicts of the intellect. But it is still there. And obviously there is the ending of the organism, the body.

And we accept that naturally, because we see everything dying. But what we do not accept is the psychological ending, of the “me”, with the family, with the house, with success, the things I have done, and the things I have still to do, the fulfilments and the frustrations—and there is something more to do before I end!

And the psychological entity, we’re afraid that will come to an end—the “me”, the “I”, the soul, in the various forms, words, that we give to the centre of our being.

There isn't anything anybody wants, that is for any other reason than that they think they would feel better, in having it.

Money with Meaning: Living Your Life “On Purpose” by T. Harv Eker

Why are you here? Why are you on the planet right now? Many people believe we each come into this life with a purpose, a reason for living. Considering that every element in nature has a specific purpose for existing, and we are an integral part of nature, it stands to reason that we have a purpose too.

Eastern philosophies submit that each of us has a job to do, a duty in life, and that the only way to find peace and fulfillment is to carry out your duty or "dharma" as it's called. The philosophy states that to truly be happy you must learn to live in service, to live based on what you can give rather than only on what you can get; to live based "on purpose" rather than only "on outcome".

The brilliant futurist, Buckminster Fuller said, "The purpose of our lives is to add value to the people of this generation and those that follow." In short, to leave this world a better place than it was when you arrived. It could be in terms of adding convenience, education, entertainment, enlightenment, health, beauty, joy, humour, technology, or any other way you personally can serve other people or the planet.

Although many people believe they have a purpose, they often have a difficult time discovering their own reason for living. Because purpose holds such a spiritual sense, people tend to believe their purpose will somehow be handed down from the heavens. They wait and wait for some "burning bush" to tell them what to do. It's true, a few "tuned-in" people do receive some type of message; some unmistakable calling. But the answer for most of us is that we actually have to "choose" our purpose. We are the ones who decide how we are best suited to serve.

Our choice, however, is not random. We each have unique abilities, inherent talents and strengths. We each have different interests and activities that bring us joy. We each have different experiences and issues from which we've learned, and we all have a different way in which we can best serve others. It is through these factors you "choose" your purpose.

Can your purpose change? Yes. More likely, however, is that your overall purpose remains the same, while the vehicle you use to provide your service may change on an ongoing basis. If your purpose is to teach, for example, you may teach your own children, teach in a school, become an author or a speaker or even be a consultant. Regardless of your vehicle, your dharma is to "teach".

It takes courage to choose a purpose and even more courage to live your life based on it! Once you have purpose, you will have two essential elements for a truly happy life - money and meaning! In this way, you will become ‘rich’ in every sense of the word.

EXERCISE:
List your unique abilities, talents, strengths, interests and joys. From here choose an overall purpose for your life. Clarify it by writing it down. Then choose an initial vehicle with which you can serve people that is in alignment with your purpose. Begin today to live your life based on purpose.

Declarations:

I am here for a reason.
I have important work to do.
I live my life on purpose.
