SINGAPORE: Mainboard-listed marine services specialist MTQ has appointed a new chief executive officer in the bid to expand the group.
With effect from July 1, Mr Kuah Boon Wee, son of the current executive chairman and CEO Kuah Kok Kim, will become the group's CEO.
Mr Kuah Boon Wee has been MTQ's director since 2006.
He will be leaving port operator PSA International where he is currently the CEO of PSA's Middle East and South Asia region.
When contacted, a PSA spokesman would only confirm that Mr Kuah was leaving the firm.
According to an internal staff memo seen by MediaCorp, Mr Kuah's last day with PSA is June 28.
The memo said he's in the process of handing over his duties as CEO of PSA Middle East and Asia to the Group CEO Eddie Teh, who will act as the division's head for now.
Prior to joining PSA, Mr Kuah was the chief financial officer for the mainboard-listed ST Engineering.
Meanwhile, MTQ's current Executive Chairman and CEO Kuah Kok Kim will retain certain executive functions and continue to be the Executive Chairman to provide guidance to the group.
On the succession, he said a younger leader is able to commit to take MTQ through the next growth phase, which includes organic growth and ventures overseas. - CNA/vm
