It's Fun to Know: A Number Trick to Amaze Your Friends

Say to your friend, "Pick two numbers, both of them less than 10."

Then say, "Choose either one of those numbers and multiply it by 5."

Then, "Add 7."

Then, "Multiply the result by 2."

Then, "Add that number to the other number that you picked initially."

Finally, you ask, "What's your answer?"

Knowing that, you can now tell your friend the two numbers he originally chose, and also the one he started with and multiplied by 5.

Here's how: From your friend's final result, you subtract 14. That gives you a two-digit number made up of the two numbers your friend initially selected. The left-hand digit is the number he started with and multiplied by 5.

Sad... Hans Beck, original designer of Playmobil, passes. One of my favourite childhood toys...

It's Fun to Know: The Big Boys' Playground

The Mannerspeilplatz in Kassel, Germany is a guy's dream come true: Visitors are given free reign to play with full-sized backhoes, bulldozers, chainsaws, jackhammers, ATVs, and more.

But no kids are allowed on this "Men's Playground." It's intended for office workers, suburbanites, and others with the urge to get in touch with their manly side by pursuing such activities as demolishing things and driving fast in the mud.

Well worth the $280 cost of admission. Just ask any man.

Ridiculous Life Lessons From New Girl Games
from Wired: Gaming by Tracey John

Forget about the on-screen violence of first-person shooters: Upcoming videogames for tween girls send some pretty strange messages indeed.

Pop-Up Children Fantasy Books

Postby LenaHuat » Fri Oct 02, 2009 4:11 pm

I've a fascination for Pop-Up Books by paper engineers such as Sabuda, Reinhart, Carter etc etc. IMHO, children who are exposed to these books will have their creativity streaks notched up by many bars :D

You can read abt this one here. Scroll to the bottom section "Customer Reviews" and look out for this American lady, Tenna Merchent, who has so generously shared with Amazon buyers her video of this awesome book :
