By Ryan Hasson

Alphabet's Most Overlooked Division Just Had a Big Week

by Ryan Hasson.

Alphabet's Other Bets segment drew attention after Wing expanded drone delivery to seven more U.S. cities and Waymo launched its first membership program in the same week.

Waymo's new $29.99-per-month Premier program introduces recurring revenue to a ride business already generating approximately 500,000 paid trips per week.

Despite a $2.1 billion operating loss, Other Bets holds significant embedded value, with Waymo's private valuation alone standing at $126 billion.

Alphabet: Cloud at 63% Growth for 25x Forward Earnings

Alphabet (NASDAQ: GOOGL) is up over 15% on the year, making it one of the strongest year-to-date performers on this list.

At a forward P/E of almost 25 and a market cap close to $4.4 trillion, it is certainly not the cheapest name here in absolute terms. But the quality of its earnings growth, along with its AI stronghold, makes the multiple far more defensible than it might appear at first glance.

Google Cloud delivered Q1 2026 revenue of $20.03 billion, up 63% year over year, crossing the $20 billion quarterly threshold for the first time.

The cloud backlog approached $460 billion, nearly half a trillion dollars.

Total Q1 revenue of $109.9 billion grew 22%, the fastest rate since 2022. For full-year 2025, net income reached $132.17 billion on net margins of 37.92%.

The recent $80 billion equity offering, which initially weighed on share performance, was announced to fund AI infrastructure and was backed by a $10 billion commitment from Berkshire Hathaway (NYSE: BRK.B), underscoring that demand for Google's AI compute capacity continues to outstrip supply.

Paying almost 25x forward earnings for a business with this earnings profile, this growth rate, and an unrecognized SpaceX investment that could be worth well over $100 billion at IPO pricing, makes Alphabet one of the more compelling mega-cap setups heading into Q2 earnings on July 22.

The consensus among 54 analysts is Moderate Buy, with a price target of $413.13, implying about 10% upside.

Google Q2 earnings top expectations, cloud revenue grows 82%, but stock falls on capex growth

by Daniel Howley

Google parent Alphabet (GOOG, GOOGL) reported its second quarter earnings after the bell on Wednesday, beating Wall Street's expectations on the top and bottom lines as cloud revenue increased 82% year over year.

For the quarter, Alphabet saw earnings per share of $9.11 on revenue of $119.8 billion. Analysts were anticipating EPS of $2.95 and revenue of $116.9 billion.

But the company also stated that it is raising its capital expenditures for the year to between $195 billion and $205 billion from $180 billion to $190 billion. Analysts had called for $186.4 billion.

Google's Cloud platform brought in $24.77 billion, above an expected $24.56 billion and well ahead of the $13.6 billion it brought in last year.

Advertising revenue came in at $81.63 billion. Analysts were looking for $81.12 billion.

"Q2 was an amazing quarter, with Alphabet revenues growing 24% year over year and Google Cloud revenues accelerating to 82% growth, driven by demand for AI infrastructure and AI solutions," CEO Sundar Pichai said in a stateme

Remaining performance obligations (RPOs), or contracts that Google still has to deliver on, hit $514 billion. Wall Street analysts were projecting $488.1 billion.

Investors have recently pulled back on the AI trade as they continue to digest massive spending on data centers and chips to power their AI platforms.

At the same time, tech companies have repeatedly stated that they are capacity-constrained, with demand for computing power outstripping available supply.

Alphabet's Google, like its AI rivals, is also under constant pressure to release ever more powerful AI models. Any delay could give a challenger the space it needs to outmaneuver the competition.

According to Bloomberg, Google has delayed its Gemini 3.5 Pro model over concerns related to its capabilities compared to other leading models.

"We're shipping quickly across a wide range of models while keeping them highly cost-effective for customers," a spokesperson told Yahoo Finance.

"We're currently testing 3.5 Pro, an upgraded Flash model, and other models with partners, and we're productively engaged with the US government."

Alphabet also got a boost on Monday after The Information reported Google is developing a new chip that could increase efficiency when running Gemini. The chip, codenamed Frozen v2, would include bits of Gemini, cutting processing time.

Alphabet Inc. - Record cloud growth, elevated CAPEX weighs on FCF.

Recommendation: BUY; TP US$425.00; Last close: US$318.74; Analyst Serena Lim Yi Qi

2Q26 Adj. PATMI grew 24% YoY to US$35bn, with revenue up 24% YoY to US$119.8bn driven by strong growth in advertising and Cloud segments. 2Q26 revenue/PATMI were at 45%/42% of our FY26e forecasts as ad segment is subject to seasonality.

Robust revenue growth across core business segments due to:-
1) resilient ad performance (+14% YoY) boosted by Gemini integration in Search and increasing Shorts and CTV monetisation; and
2) fastest cloud growth due to strong demand in Enterprise AI products and services (+82% YoY).

Free cash flow turned negative for the first time due to heavy AI investment, but we believe temporary FCF pressure should support stronger long-term AI growth and revenue visibility.

We upgraded to BUY rating but lowered our DCF target price to US$425 (from US$450).

We reduced our FY26e revenue and PATMI forecasts by ~2% and ~4%, respectively, reflecting moderate margin expansion amid ongoing supply chain constraints.

Despite the near-term earnings revisions, we remain constructive on GOOGL's long-term outlook.

Its vertically integrated AI ecosystem spanning custom silicon, optimised data centres, and high-performing Gemini models should continue to support robust growth across ad and cloud businesses.
