Best Stocks to Buy for the Next Decade: Apple (AAPL)

You can say what you want about the iPhone maker’s best days being behind it, but I have a feeling Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will continue to create products people want to buy for years to come.

What they are, I couldn’t tell you.

What I do know is that Apple will continue to generate a huge amount of free cash flow — $52.5 billion in the trailing 12 months through Dec. 31, 2016 — to reward shareholders for their patience and loyalty.

AAPL currently converts 71.7% of its EBITDA into free cash flow, which is pretty darn close to the 77.7% conversion rate of Amazon — a company known for doing a good job converting cash.

The most recent rumor on Wall Street has Apple and Walt Disney Co (NYSE:DIS) hooking up to form a media and tech conglomerate.

While speculative in nature, the combination would provide Apple with a few more avenues to generate ideas for new products.

At this point, while I like Disney, I’d say it needs Apple more than Apple needs it.

Apple Stock: Here’s Why It’ll Keep Growing in 2018

By: Christian Tharp, CMT

Apple is one of the biggest beneficiaries of the latest tax repatriation plan approved by the GOP. Apple has over $252 billion of cash held in international locations.

Apple Watch is also being used massively in the tele-medicine market, where doctors recommend patients to use technology gadgets and wearable devices to track their health. According to an estimate by IHS Market, there will be about 5.4 million mobile consultations in the USA alone by 2020.

The company is working on optical sensors that track blood sugar. Apple’s “Care Kit” program is also getting famous among doctors worldwide.

Asia now accounts for 31% of Apple’s total revenue.

Apple Stock: Can iPhone Demand Issues Be Solved?

By: Christian Tharp, CMT

KeyBanc Capital Markets analyst John Vinh believes that iPhone X demand is worse than that of iPhone 8/8 Plus demand due to higher prices and market saturation.

The trend shows that Apple stock dips almost 30% every 2.8 years.

The company had promised to release HomePod in December 2017, but the smart speaker is now slated to be launched for sale some time in 2018.

Apple holds about $250 billion in cash overseas. UBS report says that Apple can buyback as much as $122 billion worth of its shares using the repatriation cash.

Citi analysts Jim Suva and Asiya Merchant, said in a report that there is a “40% chance” that Apple will acquire Netflix.

This Stock Could Soar for Many Years to Come

by Michael A. Robinson

Even after Apple pays its tax bill, it will clear an impressive $210 billion.

On top of the massive wave of cash coming back from abroad, don’t forget that Apple also generates around $90 billion in adjusted earnings each year.

Up to $150 billion could go toward shareholder-friendly programs like buybacks and dividends.

Since 2012, it has spent $234 billion on share buybacks and dividends. In that time, Apple has retired 1.4 billion shares through buybacks. That’s more than 20% of all shares outstanding;

Earnings

Apple: Apple reported a customary strong quarter despite fears of weaker-than-expected demand for the iPhone X. So its revenue and earnings were both well ahead of the respective Zacks Consensus Estimates.

A $100+ year-over-year increase in the iPhone ASP indicates that the iPhone X did in fact do quite well, but may have been impacted by the slightly delayed launch.

At the same time, guidance came in below expectations, which could mean that management is being conservative, or there really is weaker demand for the much more expensive device.

What falls to the bottom line is however more significant for a company, so a more profitable business model where higher prices offset volume declines may not be so bad.

Another thing to keep in mind is the incremental stability in Apple’s revenues stemming from a steadily growing services business where the installed base continues to grow.

China was also strong in the last quarter, and Apple saw some traction in iPads. So, nothing at all to complain about.

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) shares have fallen to test their 200-day moving average, down more than 11% from their mid-January highs as broad market weakness has combined with specific concerns about iPhone X demand and the company’s ability to generate the revenue growth everyone is used to as the smartphone market becomes saturated. But for long-term holders, this represents the first significant pullback since the summer of 2016.

The company will next report results on May 3, after the close. Analysts are looking for earnings of $2.72-per-share on revenues of $61.3 billion.

When the company last reported on Feb. 1, earnings of $3.89-per-share beat estimates by 4 cents on a 12.7% rise in revenues. But iPhone sales missed estimates in a big way.

It’s Not Too Late to Buy This Stock

by David Zeiler

Apple sold 29 million iPhone X units in the December quarter, about 37.5% of the 77.3 million total. That’s pretty impressive for a device that went on sale Nov. 1 – one month into the quarter.

All of Apple’s year-over-year numbers were better than they appeared because the 2016 Q1 included one more week of sales.

Revenue was reported as up a respectable 13% year over year. But average revenue per week was up 21%.

Apple’s share of global smartphone sales hovers around 15%, but its share of global smartphone profits is about 75%.
