Best Dow Jones Stocks to Buy: Apple (AAPL)

Apple shares have suffered a 9% pullback from their recent high after excitement surrounding the iPhone X unveiling gave way to nervousness about production delays, tepid iPhone 8 demand and LTE connectivity problems with the Apple Watch.

While the surge of deliveries probably won’t occur until early 2018, the demand for the iPhone X will likely exceed expectations and mark a repeat of the iPhone 6 “super cycle” of 2014.

This is the first new form factor in three years. It contains a number of new technologies vs. the incremental updates seen to date. And pressure from a high price is alleviated by the transition from a subsidized purchase to a lease to own model.

The company will next report results on Oct. 31 after the close. Analysts are looking for earnings of $1.88 per share on revenues of $50.9 billion.

When the company last reported on Aug. 1, earnings of $1.67 beat estimates by 10 cents on a 7.2% rise in revenues.

Top Tech Growth Stocks: Apple (AAPL)

by Beni Krausz

I believe that Apple’s momentum is only set to increase as we roll into the next year. Case in point: the recent stock upgrade from five-star KeyBanc analyst Andy Hargreaves. This analyst is famously on the fence when it comes to Apple stock, so his upgrade speaks volumes. On Oct. 15, he upgraded AAPL from “hold” to “buy” with a shiny $187 price target (17% upside).

For Hargreaves, Apple’s “aggressive market segmentation” strategy is now so promising that it overshadows concerns about an iPhone sale slowdown.

Hargreaves says he is still “pessimistic” about the iPhone’s multicycle unit growth but “Apple’s expanded market segmentation strategy seems likely to drive average gross profit per user above our previous expectations.”

This strategy involves Apple bumping up the price of its base-model high-end iPhones. At $999 (before sales tax) the iPhone X is the most expensive iPhone ever made. And this is just with basic storage of 64GB.

Because Apple is now charging more ($150 up from $100) for increased storage possibilities, while sneakily removing the option to increase storage to 128GB. Now the next data storage upgrade is 256GB. And Apple is ensuring that most of this cost is passed on.

Hargreaves says: “Our conversations with suppliers suggest Apple will bear little of the cost associated with current yield issues around the iPhone X … in contrast to our previous expectations.”

We can see from TipRanks that Apple has regained its “Strong Buy” rating. In the last three months, the stock has received 22 buy ratings and seven hold ratings.

Based on these ratings, the average $175 price target on AAPL stock translates into upside of over 10% from the current share price.

Apple (AAPL) Has iPhone 8 Sales Woes

After all the Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) hype for the iPhone X, supply chain issues, nonexistent iPhone 8 demand and Apple Watch LTE issues have dampened enthusiasm.

With pre-orders on the iPhone X starting soon, one wonders how much demand will fade by the time people actually get their hands on the device (reportedly, in very limited quantities) on Nov. 3. Shares are moving sharply lower today, slicing back below the 50-day moving average.

The company will next report results on Nov. 2 after the close. Analysts are looking for earnings of $1.88 per share on revenues of $50.86 billion.

When the company last reported on Aug. 1, earnings of $1.67 beat estimates by 10 cents on a 7.2% rise in revenues.

Stay Away From Apple Inc. Stock in 2018

iPhone X demand looks good, but just like the iPhone 6, it won't be repeatable next year

The iPhone accounted for 55% of Apple’s revenue last quarter.

Growth Stocks to Buy for Retirement: Apple (AAPL)

Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) is not what I would call a momentum stock. In fact, with the recent tax cut bill, AAPL stock may just become a “GARP” stock — Growth at a Reasonable Price.

AAPL stock has $268 billion of cash and investments on its balance sheet, almost all of which is held overseas. If the tax bill passes, Apple can repatriate about $216 billion of that cash and put it to work. Backing out the $94 billion in long-term debt it carries, AAPL stock has $35-per-share in net cash.

With a market cap of $871 billion the market thus values the business at $777 billion. With $48 billion in TTM net income, AAPL stock still only trades at about 16.5x net income. Analysts see 11% annualized growth going forward.

But when I add a 1-% premium for having amazing cash flow, great cash position and a world class brand name, I am very happy to get AAPL stock at this price for the long-term when it comes to retirement investing.

This Stock Could Be Headed Higher… Much Higher

“I think he’s going to make the pivot very shortly into medical devices”.

On November 30, Apple launched an app that studies users’ heart rates through the Apple Watch. Called the Apple Heart Study App, it detects irregularities and sends notifications to users who may be suffering from atrial fibrillation (AFib) – potentially saving countless lives.

“To me, that’s having one or more Apple devices recognized as medical devices,” said Keith.

“When this happens, doctors all over the world could prescribe Apple products and insurance companies would pay for them. Revenue would skyrocket, and profit margins could double.”

Apple Is Blowing Minds Again by How It's Using Its Cash

By Brian Sozzi

Over the course of one week mighty Apple (AAPL - Get Report) has spent a reported $400 million to acquire music tech company Shazam, while Wednesday brings news that Apple has invested $390 million in laser chipmaker Finisar (FNSR - Get Report) .

In effect, Apple has signaled a few things to the market.

First, it will need help to engineer the next groundbreaking product. This doesn't mean Apple is done innovating, it means Apple realizes that to stay ahead of strengthening rivals it must use its biggest advantage -- its balance sheet.

Can't wait until Apple buys Salesforce (CRM - Get Report) to take on Microsoft (MSFT - Get Report) and Amazon (AMZN - Get Report) in the cloud.

Heed The Warning Signs For Apple Inc. Stock In 2018

AAPL stock is a long-term winner, but 2018 could be a difficult year.

By LUKE LANGO

AAPL Stock Will Head Higher In A Multi-Year Window.

After three consecutive quarters of 50%-plus unit growth, the Apple Watch seems to be the only device that matters in the burgeoning wearables market. This is likely because it fits seamlessly into the Apple ecosystem, which has already won consumers over with the iPhone.

The high-margin Services segment is actually seeing its growth accelerate (34% last quarter versus 24% one year ago) and now accounts for over 16% over Apple’s total revenue.

Even Mac sales growth is positive. After four straight quarters of declines in 2016, Mac sales have posted four straight quarters of gains in 2017.

At 19x trailing earnings and 12x trailing EBITDA, AAPL stock is trading at its richest valuation in five years.

AAPL stock is currently trading on assumptions that the iPhone X will catalyze a multi-year growth cycle, but history shows that this won’t happen.
