The Lie Detector Hidden Inside Your Speech

It has been called the discovery of the 7th sense. The research into this phenomenon has been described as being of "Nobel calibre". It has been featured in numerous publications around the world, and in the United States it became a household name in the late 90s.

It is called Reverse Speech, the phenomenon of hidden backward messages in speech. It initially gained worldwide fame in the early 80s as those strange backward messages in rock and roll. Since that time, research has progressed significantly and it is now known to exist in all forms of human speech.

If human speech is recorded and played backwards, mixed amongst the gibberish at regular intervals can be heard very clear statements. These statements usually appear in short sentence form and are nearly always related to the forward speech. It appears constantly throughout language, so much so in fact, that it is believed to be a natural part of our speech processes.

Fear is a psychological process

Fear is not only a response of the adrenal glands but also a psychological process.

To understand fear, not intellectually but actually to be free of it, one requires very keen observation, one has to look at it very closely.

When the mind - which has been trained in a culture that accepts fear as part of life with all its violence - understands fear then perhaps we can be completely free not only consciously but also unconsciously.

To go into this question of fear one has to be aware, that is one has to watch one's own fear, not the fear that one is told about or the fear of the unknown, but the actual fear that one has.

One has to understand fear

So, one has to understand fear. You know, one is afraid: afraid of one's parents, afraid of not passing examinations, afraid of one's teachers, afraid of the dog, afraid of the snake.

You have to understand fear and be free of fear. When you are free of fear there is the strong feeling of being good, of thinking very clearly, of looking at stars, of looking at clouds, of looking at faces with a smile.

And when there is no fear, you can go much further. Then you can find out for yourself that for which man has searched generation upon generation.

Are you a good liar? Find out in 5 seconds or less.

Imagine: A 5-second test that would tell you if someone is a good liar…

It sounds like science fiction… but Professor Richard Wiseman, creator of the popular :59 Seconds video series, says it’s not only possible, it’s easy to do…

Why Your Happiness Probably Won't Be Found at the Beach

Taking a vacation won’t necessarily make you happier. But anticipating it will.

Vacationers feel most happy before their trips. Social scientists say that we get an extra happiness boost if we consciously delay any type of pleasure — be it booking a trip to Bali months in advance or eating that sliver of chocolate cake tomorrow instead of today.

Doing this allows us to build up positive expectations, to relish how enjoyable the experience might be.

How to Win Friends And Influence People by Dale Carnegie.

Published in 1936 it is still considered by many (including this author) to be the seminal book on people skills.

Mr. Carnegie showed us a number of principles and techniques for creating win/win outcomes and becoming a powerful influencer in the process. There was one lesson though; one thing that has helped me more than anything else in learning how to sell my ideas.

He wrote: “Ultimately, people do things for their reasons, not our reasons.” Once I understood that timeless principle of human nature, I never again had to search any further for an answer in terms of how to work effectively with someone.

I knew that -- if I wanted to persuade someone to willingly accept a certain idea or action – I needed to tie together my reasons…with their reasons.

If I could do that, I’d have the results I wanted. If not I wouldn’t. It intuitively made sense to me at that point that the focus always had to be on bringing value to them.

How to Detect a Lie Through Body Language By Michael Lee

Reading body language to know if a person is lying applies not just to ordinary people but to professionals as well. The police use it to determine if the person is guilty of a certain wrongdoing or not, teachers employ it to find out if the child really has or hasn't done his or her homework and parents apply it to find out if their teenagers really did go to a group study session as they said they would.

In the past, it seemed like reading body language to judge guilt may not have been in effect, at least in some cultures. Tribal groups of centuries back used to figure out if a native committed a crime using pain tests, such as dipping a hand in boiling water, walking on fiery coals, and others.

For instance, a native whose hand came out scalded after a dip in hot water is considered guilty at the time. Luckily, no such judging process exists anymore and we have the chance to disprove allegations by appearing in court and giving our statements. However, it may not be easy either, because it requires knowledge of reading body language.

How can you tell if the other person is lying through his teeth? There are several ways to tell. One is when the other person is unable to look you in the eye as he tells his lie. Thus, if you ask your partner if he has been cheating on you, you will know that something is amiss if he says he hasn't but looks elsewhere while he says so.

Of course, there are people who have perfected the art of lying that the eye test does not always work. Other indicators of lying include restless hands (that is, he keeps touching his face, his arms, fixing his clothes, or tinkering with something), ill timing of gestures (that is, his body language seems to be off-kilter and awkward), or increased defensiveness. A person who has been accused of lying gets rather anxious as he tries to disprove the allegation.

Here's another way you can also tell if the person is lying. When you suddenly shift to another topic, he also shifts to a more comfortable and relaxed state. A person who lies will want to avoid talking about the tense subject as much as possible, so he will most definitely try to stay at the lighter topic and try to expand on that so that you will forget about the original issue.

Most people have lied one way or another in their life. In fact, lying has become part of human nature. Sometimes we have to tell lies in order to avoid hurting somebody else. As the saying goes, what the person doesn't know won't hurt him. However, if discovering the truth is what you're after, then these tips mentioned here will help you find out if you're being duped or not.
