British rock star Eric Clapton raised $2.15 million at a New York auction of 75 guitars and 55 amplifiers on Wednesday, more than triple the pre-sale expectations, auctioneers Bonhams said on Thursday.

The proceeds from the sale at which every lot found a buyer will go to the 65-year-old guitar legend's Crossroads Center drug and alcohol treatment facility in the Caribbean.

let me share a conundrum here, based on what's been happening to the homeless in the UK :

for many years now, their gahmen has supported this food program for the homeless, they call, "Soup Runs"

essentially, homeless can visit the many centres where hot soups and beds are provided for the homeless...

the intentions are noble; to provide for the destitute and help them on their feet

they are doing such a great job that these homeless have remain homeless

now, they are debating if they will want to continue with this overwhelmingly successful program

Dont understand the logic.

When they away the soups and beds, the homeless would suddenly be able find a home and food ?

You just drive most of them to the parks and since the "Royal Wedding" would be coming up, they would be driving them away from the parks too ..

Somehow the people making the decisions, thinks that people like to sleep in those shelters ( not to mention the danger ) and eat plain bread and soup everyday ...

Spirituality

A spiritual seeker should be able to do everything with love and sincerity. The opportunity to serve others should be considered a blessing and we should be grateful for such opportunities.

A spiritual seeker should always be positive in his attitude. He should never harbor any negative feelings or negative attitudes. To be positive requires strength and courage.

It requires a daring mind to give up old habits and to develop and cultivate new ones based on spiritual principles. It is possible. This is the purpose of spiritual practices.

What is the principle to be kept always in mind when we do service?

Cultivate the atmosphere of love and cooperation, and you can ensure joy forever more. Seek ways of working together for the common good.

The sense of ‘I’ and ‘mine’ - these prevent love and cooperation. Reduce them to the minimum and then start serving the needy and the distressed.

Service is best built on the strong foundation of "That thou art". There is no other, there is only One.

Many kites fly high, but the same air keeps all of them aloft. The pots of water in which the Sun is reflected may be many, but the Sun remains unaffected even when the pots break or the water is dried up.

Understand that all help you render is therefore help given to yourself; all service is to the Self alone.

the charity and volunteering now is for all of you in this forum to sign up as volunteers as polling agents for the various parties, preferably opposition parties...

NSP/WP/RP/SPP/SDP all need volunteers to make sure that at polling stations, nothing hanky panky goes on...

if i was in Singapore now, I will very certainly sign up for this privilege...

just go to the respective political party website and sign up...it is that easy...or call them...dont worry, if you want, you can even speak with nicole seah directly or FB her...wijeysingha will no doubt respond to you personally too... but if you choose pap, i cannot guarantee you can even reach the assistant to the assistant to the assistant to the assistant of the assistant of the pap candidate..
