4 Vital Things to Remember When Writing a Resume By Michael Lee

In this article, I’m going to reveal some resume writing tips to help you gain an advantage over other applicants.

In such a competitive world, you need to prepare as much as you can. After all, it’s difficult to land an interview without an impressive resume that catches the employer’s eyes. Here’s some vital resume writing tips to remember:

Resume Writing Tips # 1: Physical Demands.

You need to make sure that your resume is printed on nice quality paper. Make sure it’s clean. No smudges. No crinkles.

This advice might sound superficial to you but the employer will consider how your resume looks like. It’s an extension of yourself. If your resume is dirty and disorganized, what would that say about you?

Resume Writing Tips # 2: Keep Everything In Order.

Arrange your accomplishments and work experiences in proper categories. Don’t mix them all together. Always start with your most recent, because it helps your employer get a better understanding of who you are now.

Personal information is usually placed at the end of the resume. While you must keep it short, don’t just put your birth date or place there. Include relevant hobbies, interests, and skills that might be useful for the position you’re applying and help you gain an advantage. For instance, listing down traveling as an interest will give the impression that you’re outgoing and adventurous.

Resume Writing Tips # 3: Never Fabricate.

Never, ever put something untrue in your resume. Don’t exaggerate on your skills either. If you can barely speak Italian, don’t put down that you speak it fluently. Even if something like that impresses the employer, it’s bound to get you into trouble sooner or later.

Resume Writing Tips # 4: Double Check For Typos Or Grammatical Errors.

A resume with even just one typo is a turn off. This gives them the idea that you didn’t even review your work properly. While something like this should be common sense, and should not even be part of resume writing tips, you’d be surprised at how many still make this mistake.

These resume writing tips are very important. They help create an idea of the kind of person you are, even before the interview.

Surviving Job Loss: 5 Simple Ways To Deal With Job Loss By Michael Lee

Surviving job loss in this urban jungle is quite challenging. Your source of income disappears, your confidence shatters and you find it difficult to move on. You feel negative all the time and wallow in self-pity.

To get out of the rut, you need to start being active again. Below are 5 ways to surviving job loss.

Tip # 1 For Surviving Job Loss: Time To Grieve.

Allow the fact that you lost your job to sink in first. Others find themselves trapped in denial and are thus unable to move on. Don’t be one of those victims.

Instead, try to review the circumstances which led to your current situation. Focus on the solutions and opportunities that await you, not on the problem. Finding the answers will help you pick up the pieces and decide on a new path to follow.

Tip # 2 For Surviving Job Loss: Save Up For A Rainy Day.

It’s a sensible idea to save up for any emergency, and job loss certainly falls under that category. Start putting aside a small percentage of your earnings. In case of job loss, you will at least have enough money for food, rent, and basic needs.

Tip # 3 For Surviving Job Loss: Find A Friend.

Friends are the best therapists. They help make you feel better about yourself and help you cope with job loss, too. You can confide in them and just let all the negative feelings and insecurities out. Who knows? One of your friends might be able to help you land a better job and career!

Tip # 4 For Surviving Job Loss: Set Worthwhile Goals.

Losing your job can lead to depression and a lack of interest in general. To keep yourself upbeat and productive, make a list of short-term and long-term goals - and strive to achieve them. This way, you have a compelling reason to live life to the fullest by achieving your purpose.

Tip # 5 For Surviving Job Loss: Be Positive.

Being negative won’t help make your problem go away. Instead, be positive and believe that there are countless possibilities waiting for you. Don’t let job loss deter your from your dreams. Keep your head up high and keep doing your best.

It’s hard enough to land yourself a decent job these days, and losing it might seem like the worst thing in the world. When surviving job loss, you must see the situation as a challenge rather than as a problem. Believe that you now have a chance to excel in other areas and you’ll soon enjoy a rewarding career.

The best answer to the question asked in an interview, "Where do you see yourself in 5 years' time?" . . .

"In the mirror as always . . " :D

101 Ways to Be Happy By Mara

Do you want to be happy? Of course you do, who doesn't?! Here are 101 easy ways to achieve a better, happier life!

It's not things that make us happy but our experiences.

WORK

8 ) Make enough money to meet your basic needs. Studies have shown that anything beyond that amount will not necessarily make you happier.

9) Avoid financial hierarchies. For a new job, choose a place where everyone makes a similar amount. People feel better when they feel equal to their co-workers.

10) Find satisfaction in the job you have. Don't expect to find one job that will make you happy—instead focus on the positive aspects of your work instead of blaming a job for your unhappiness.

11) Take initiative at work. You'll gain professional respect, self-fulfillment and feel more in control in the workplace.

12) Keep plants in your workspace. The LA Times found that employees who decorate their office space are more satisfied with their jobs.

13) Bake cookies and bring them to work. You'll enjoy the baking and making your co-workers happy.

i think these days...most people work because they have to and not because they want to.

they have to work to live the lifestyle they've purchased themselves with the money they earned. even when it no longer gives any job satisfaction, most stay on in their jobs and slowly resent it more with each passing day.

why, do we do this to ourselves?

They have bought into the subliminal advertising message that "if you buy this or own that, you will be sexy/happy/successful etc...etc.."

many end up becoming slaves to the money they earn... sad

i think many will agree that there's a lot more to life than the constant and mindless pursuit of money for its sake... we can't bring it with us eventually to our graves.
