Can the limited brain grasp this?

The questioner says, how can the conditioned brain grasp the unlimited, which is beauty, love, and truth? What is the ground of compassion and intelligence, and can it come upon us—each one of us?

Are you inviting compassion? Are you inviting intelligence? Are you inviting beauty, love, and truth? Are you trying to grasp it? I am asking you. Are you trying to grasp the quality of intelligence, compassion, the immense sense of beauty, the perfume of love and that truth which has no path to it?

Is that what you are grasping—wanting to find out the ground upon which it dwells? Can the limited brain grasp this? You cannot possibly grasp it, hold it.

You can do all kinds of meditation, fast, torture yourself, become terribly austere, having one suit, or one robe. All this has been done. The rich cannot come to the truth, neither the poor.

Nor the people who have taken a vow of celibacy, of silence, of austerity. All that is determined by thought, put together sequentially by thought; it is all the cultivation of deliberate thought, of deliberate intent.

It will come to you, you cannot go to it

Please let us be clear on this point—that you cannot by any process, through any discipline, through any form of meditation, go to truth, the Divine, or whatever name you like to give it.

It is much too vast, it cannot possibly be conceived of; no description will cover it, no book can hold it, nor any word contain it. So you cannot by any devious method, by an sacrifice, by any discipline or through any guru, go to it.

You must await it, it will come to you, you cannot go to it. That is the fundamental thing one has to understand, that not through any trick of the mind, not through any control, through any virtue, any compulsion, any form of suppression, can the mind possibly go to truth.

All that the mind can do is be quiet but not with the intention of receiving it. And that is one of the most difficult things of all because we think truth can be experienced right away through doing certain things.

Truth is not to be bought any more than love can be bought.

Now? He goes to Church on Saturdays and Sunday. Has a learner attitute to study marketing and economics. i gave him all my books and those marketing-magazines i had collected over the years. A while ago, he told me he passed his exams ...

5 mins ago, i received a letter from this younger brother. Very simple letter. He told me that he has succeeded and quitted smoking.

What are the signposts that mark an aspirant who wants to attain wisdom?

Even if you have all the means of comfortable travel through the grace of the Divine - namely cars, planes or other conveniences, you should still walk, in spite of everything, for the sake of your own health.

So too, whoever you may be, whatever spiritual practice you may be engaged with, you still have to undertake work, learn and experience the activity and learn the consequence yourself for the sake of your mental health.

This is necessary, if you wish to cure your mental weakness. The progress of the individual consists in activities done using discrimination. The end and the consequence of each and every act must be to acquire wisdom.

Once the mind comes upon this sacredness

You know, a great river may become polluted as it flows past a town, but if the pollution isn’t too great, the river cleanses itself as it goes along, and within a few miles it is again clean, fresh, pure.

Similarly, when once the mind comes upon this sacredness, then every act is a cleansing act. Through its very movement the mind is making itself innocent, and therefore it is not accumulating.

A mind that has discovered this sacredness is in constant revolution-not economic or social revolution, but an inner revolution through which it is endlessly purifying itself. Its action is not based on some idea or formula.

As the river, with a tremendous volume of water behind it, cleanses itself as it flows, so does the mind cleanse itself when once it has come upon this religious sacredness.

How long will the disturbances around us will continue to bother us?

At a distance from a bazaar, one hears only a huge indistinct uproar. But when we approach it and walk into it, one can clearly distinguish the individual bargaining at each shop.

So too, until the reality of the Divine Self is known, you are overpowered and stunned by the uproar of the world. But once you enter deep into the realm of spiritual endeavour, everything becomes clear and you are awakened.

Until this awakening, you will be caught up in the meaningless noise of argumentation, disputation and exhibitionist flamboyance.

What hides us from experiencing Divine Bliss?

The effulgence of the Divine Self is obscured by egoism or vanity. Therefore, when egoism or vanity is destroyed, all troubles end, all discontents vanish and Bliss is attained. As the Sun is obscured by mist, the feeling of vanity and egoism hides eternal bliss.

Even if the eyes are open, a piece of cloth or cardboard can prevent vision from functioning effectively and usefully. So too, selfishness prevents a human being from seeing the Divine, who is nearer to Him than anyone or anything.

To bring the teachings of the Scriptures into one's actual life, you must scotch the feeling "I know" and open your eyes to the Real Essence and introspect on it. Then, you can attain bliss without fail.

Under every stone and leaf, that which is eternal exists

What brings understanding is love. When your heart is full, then you will listen to the teacher, to the beggar, to the laughter of children, to the rainbow, and to the sorrow of man.

Under every stone and leaf, that which is eternal exists. But we do not know how to look for it. Our minds and hearts are filled with other things than understanding of "what is".

Love and mercy, kindliness and generosity do not cause enmity. When you love, you are very near truth. For, love makes for sensitivity, for vulnerability. That which is sensitive is capable of renewal. Then truth will come into being.

It cannot come if your mind and heart are burdened, heavy with ignorance and animosity.

What does it mean to be "Silent?" Why is it important?

It is said, "pratice silence". What is silence? It does not mean keeping the mouth shut. It means, getting beyond the influence of all the senses and being established always in the consciousness of One's own Reality.

When the mind withdraws from the external world, the tongue too becomes silent. All senses follow suit. That is real silence. Hence, you should learn to observe this world from afar, with an uninterested attitude.

Then, you can also escape the wiles of the intellect which breeds doubts, delusions and dualistic diversions, that draws you away from Bliss and Peace. One who has reached that stage will be in highest peace and attain the highest joy.

What is creation?

What is creation? Not of the painter, or the poet, or the man who makes something out of marble; those are all things manifested. Is there something that is not manifested?

Is there something that, because it is not manifested, has no beginning and no end? That which is manifested has a beginning, has an end. We are manifestations. Not of divine something or other, we are the result of thousands of years of so-called evolution, growth, development, and we also come to an end.

That which is manifested can always be destroyed, but that which is not has no time. We are asking if there is something beyond all time.
