It's like somebody putting money for him at a corner and all he has to do is just go to that corner to pick the money up.

TOL:-

If you were smart enough to have bought in March & April, would you take your profits now or hold on for some more gains ?

Would you be averaging up at this point in time ?

So if you are not averaging up or buying some more or even going to take some profits, then who would be buying ? Those people who missed the rally ? Are they that stupid ?

TOL:-

Ok, maybe it's a trading market and not a bearish market.

People are buying on dips or even short-covering.

Australia and Shanghai came back. HK is off it's low...

So is this the R2 or R3 that i'm talking about, to buy more puts ?

TOL:-

I recalled reading a story about the old man who refused to sell eventhough his friends were asking him to take profit. He told them," This is a bull market. You will not be able to sell and then buy back at a good price. It's better to hold. And he made a lot of money on that bull market".

So is this a "short and hold" market ? Or a trading market ? or still "a bull market" ?

frankly..

to a scalper, everyday is a trading market...
to a swing trader, every week or so is a trading market...

the only time that it is not to be seen as a trading market is for mid to long term players...where the general trend is a lot more important to get right..since we are looking at 3 months or more time frame..

TOL

What are some of the reasons for inactivity ie not taking any position ie staying in cash?

+ Afraid to lose or be wrong;
+ No clear trend;
+ the macro-economic environment cloudy;
+ Market has gone up to high;
+ No bargains with deep discount;
+ Only want to be long and not short; and
+ Already rich enough :mrgreen:
