My Favorite Biometrics Play Is 25% Off Right Now

This one stock gets you exposure to nearly every device maker on Earth...

By MICHAEL A. ROBINSON

In 2015, the biometrics industry was worth roughly $10 billion. But according to Grand View Research, by 2025, biometrics promises to be a $60 billion industry – a 600% increase in just eight years.

And that's conservative. A recent report from Research and Markets projects a compound annual growth rate (CAGR) of 23% over that same time frame, with the industry hitting $70 billion by 2025.

The Chinese and Taiwanese semiconductor, electronics, computer, and communications industries – has released research that predicts a 191% increase in TDDI (touch and display driver integration) chips for the second half of 2017.

TDDIs are used in all smartphones and mobile devices.

Synaptics Inc. (Nasdaq: SYNA)

While Asian producers are expecting to grab 40% of that TTDI, Synaptics should get the 60% "lion's share" of that windfall.

Best Tech ETFs: Robo Global Robotics & Automation ETF (ROBO)

Expense ratio: 0.95%, or $95 on a $10,000 stake.

Speaking of tech ETFs that once a looked a little too narrowly focused there is the Robo Global Robotics & Automation ETF (NASDAQ:ROBO).

Like SKYY, the Robo Global Robotics&Automation ETF has proved the critics wrong as highlighted by $1.4 billion in assets under management.

More importantly, ROBO is delivering when it comes to performance. This tech ETF is up 36.2% year-to-date, outpacing the Nasdaq-100 Index by nearly 1,200 basis points.

ROBO is another tech ETF with a compelling long-term thesis. Members of the ROBO Global Robotics & Automation Index, ROBO’s underlying benchmark, are knocking the cover off the ball when it comes to earnings and revenue beats this year.

Booming demand for artificial intelligence and healthcare robotics are among the catalysts that could support more upside for ROBO in 2018.
