L: your impression is not incorrect. Compared to 20years ago, London has become a relatively unsafe place. There have been a huge influx of foreigners into this city in the last decade. Pakistanis, Indians, Eastern Europeans and Middle Easterns.
Like in Singapore, they are also faced with social problems caused by migrants but to a lesser extent.

today, ex-police commissioner and current asst commissioner of metropolitan police force have been hauled to a select committee chaired and panelled by MPs, to be questioned on their part on the newspaper hacking scandal...

these public servants have to answer to people publicly their actions while in office ... even after they leave office, they are accountable..

i like this system....

what do we have in Singapore to make public servants accountable to Singaporeans?

build National History Museum? Casinos? Spend time cleaning walkways for pap lackeys to walk on?

i ask this to the 60.1% of the population who voted for pap :!: :!:

here's an interesting concept from UK...

given that recently, British Gas has announced unilaterally to increase electricity and gas prices by some 17%, BBC has been covering this topic:

"Fuel Poverty", which is defined as a situation where anyone having to spend more than 10% of the income on gas and electricity as being classified under

i think, we could think through this matter and see if it can be applied to our society...

what about "Transportation Poverty" or "Housing Poverty" or "Medical Poverty"?

non-stop coverage of the News of the World saga on BBC ....

rebekah brooks, ceo of NoW (sic: News International) resigns this morning...

james murdoch apologises and will be publishing their apologies on all UK newspaper this weekend....

no word yet from rupert mordoch...except that he pulled out the bid for BSkyB on Thurs..

this saga is no where near its end... not until a few people are hanged for this hacking scandal...

this news coverage is so relentless, it is similar in exposure as the recent Japan nuclear meltdown...

Not sure about you next time but I found it hard adjusting back into a "semi-open" society from an "open" society ...
It's all about "how much you made when you were right" & "how little you lost when you were wrong"
