Mobile shipments drop 15pc in mainlandby Winnie Lee
Total mobile phone shipments in
China fell 15.1 percent year-on-year to 29.584 million units last month, the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology announced.
And the number of new mobile phone models fell 46.4 percent to 30.
The total number of 5G phone shipments was 20.136 million units, accounting for 68.1 percent of total shipments.
The number of new 5G phone models was 16, accounting for 53.5 percent of total new mobile models in November.
Q Technology's (1478) camera modules sales fell 6.3 percent month-on-month and 16.8 percent year-on-year to 34.95 million units in November, due to the Covid-19 pandemic and a shortage in the supply of key parts in the smartphone supply chain.
The sales volume of fingerprint recognition modules rose 23.8 percent month-on-month and fell 13.4 percent year-on-year to 10.452 million units, due to the fall in smartphone shipments.
Meanwhile, the third-quarter shipments of
mainland smart home appliances fell 2.5 percent year-on-year to 51.12 million units, a report from IDC showed.
Gao Feng, a spokesperson of the Ministry of Commerce, said that in terms of promoting commodity consumption, China will focus on expanding the consumption of key commodities, including vehicles and green and smart home appliances.
