Tesla (TSLA) - How Should You Play It?

BY Matt Thalman

I do think we are now going to see Tesla posting numbers that are more in line with auto industry standards. That means the stock's current valuation is grossly high.

Tesla is trading at 49 times earnings, while the auto industry, on average, is well below a P/E of 10. The only other prominent car manufacturer that is trading even remotely close to Tesla is Ferrari.

The reason Tesla keeps changing its car prices

Tesla has a floating-price strategy.

For years, Tesla’s cheapest car closely tracked the average amount US consumers were paying for new vehicles. Only US$300 (RM1,339) or so separated the starting price of the Model 3 and the industry’s average transaction price.

Made possible by Musk’s rejection of two century-old traditions:-
First, he eschewed the franchised dealership model, putting Tesla in control of the final price paid by customers.
Second, he bucked the industry norm of setting prices at the start of each model year, then mostly keeping them static.

Tesla also is sitting on a sizeable cash cushion and paid down about US$10bil (RM44.6bil) of debt in the past three years.

Cathie Woods: Bold Prediction for Tesla

BY Matt Thalman

Cathie Woods Ark Invest owns a little more than $850 million worth of Tesla stock (stock price is currently around $170 per share).

She believes the stock price can go to at least $1,400 per share by 2027.

That price is her bear case scenario, with a bull case scenario of $2,500 and a base case price of $2,000 per share. Those figures would represent an eight, eleven, and fourteen-fold return from today's price.

Her bullish case for the robotaxi business is it will be worth $6143 billion by 2027.

Tesla Has Two New Secret Weapons

by LUC OLINGA

The Tesla CEO suggests that the carmaker is working on not one but two $25,000 vehicles.

These two vehicles will be the first of a new vehicle generation to be manufactured on the new and more efficient production platform. The next-gen platform enables a 40% smaller manufacturing footprint in the factory and cuts costs in half.

They will also bring Tesla closer to its goal of producing 20 million vehicles a year by 2030 and make inroads into emerging markets like India.

Tesla has produced 1.37 million cars last year.
