Netflix Inc. (NFLX)

Sigh, Whitney Tilson Is Now LONG Netflix
by Tyler Durden

And just as we were thinking of buying some deep OTM calls...

From the WSJ:

Money manager Whitney Tilson was famously the lone man willing to say the Netflix emperor had no clothes. Now, he sees the emperor in all his finery.

Tilson was shorting Netflix last year, before the company’s well publicized stumbles formed a lovely crater in the stock price. Tilson was very, very early (or wrong) about his Netflix short, which cost him gobs of money.

But today, in the wake of a staggering 36% one-day stock price drop, Tilson told our Heard on the Street colleague John Jannarone that he opened a long position in Netflix stock.

So first he was short NFLX, then he covered ($100 higher) then he did nothing as it plunged $225, and now he is long...

Oh yes, sorry any new or legacy longs.

$NFLX was actually featured during Apple’s new iPad launch.

However, despite being featured prominently, the share price did not react positively.

While the general market has surge higher, NFLX is not going anywhere.

On the Ichimoku chart, NFLX is now showing:

1. A bearish cross from the Tenkan sen and Kijun sen

2. Sitting on a fairly thin kumo support

3. We can also see that the current price level is below the gap from Jan 26.

A drop below the kumo will allow us to have a target of $60 price range.
1. Always wait for the setup. NO SETUP; NO TRADE

2. The trend will END but I don't know WHEN.

i have seen their TV media advertisements here in UK, where they offer unlimited downloads of movies for GBP6/month.

frankly, i am not motivated to join their subscription when i can get to watch movies for FREE all over the internet.

imo, businesses like netflix will not survive over time. we cannot stop internet piracy or at least the effort will be so huge, it demands very enormous efforts to stamp it out.

cinemas will also have to revitalise their offerings to movie goers beyond just screening the shows with 3D and sensurround effects to attract revenues.

i am quite sure the days of cinema business will come to an end.

I have shorted $NFLX since it gap down on Apr 24.

Overall, the Ichimoku chart is showing very bearish signs for NFLX.

1. It is now trading below the kumo

2. Bearish cross has been confirmed

Target price $68 range.

I think.. he got burned twice. First he shorted when it is soaring. Second, bought it and see it fall.....and then he buys more.

TILSON: We Just Bought More Netflix And 'We Think The Market Is Giving Us A Gift'

Read more: http://articles.businessinsider.com/201 ... z1txzvMu72

Whitney Tilson announced on CNBC today that T2 Partners has been adding to its holdings of Netflix, despite lousy Q2 guidance in an earnings report it released last night. Because of this, the stock has been getting killed today.

But Tilson argued today that Q2 is a typically sour period for Netflix, and that the company's strategy and fundamental strengths haven't changed:

"When [a stock] gets cheaper and the story stays the same, we actually add to it, which is exactly what we did with Netflix. We don't look to the market for signals, we do our own analysis. And by the way, the stock—even after today's decline—right now—the stock started the year under 70 dollars. So the stock is up almost 30 percent this year. It's one of our biggest winners, so we think the market is giving us a gift. It gave us a huge gift earlier this year, we harvested and banked a lot of profit, and now we're getting another bite at the apple. So thank you, Mr. Market."

Then again, Tilson also made a bad call on Netflix last year, shorting the stock right before it soared, and covering his bet right before share price fell dramatically.

2. The trend will END but I don't know WHEN.

$NFLX . Will it go above $65 again?

Image

$NFLX has bounce off the lows of $52 twice and seems ready for a rebound.

However, on the Ichimoku chart, it is stil in Bearish territories.

Couple of resistance ahead.

1. Huge gap resistance formed back in July

2. Chikou Span resistance at around $65

3. Immediate resistance from the Tenkan sen at $57 to 58 range.

Apart from that, the leading kumo is pretty much flat. There is no suggestion that the trend has changed and possibly a continued downwards movement.

2. The trend will END but I don't know WHEN.
