What Apple Inc. (AAPL) Stock Needs to Make ANY Waves From Here

'New iPads are coming!' or so the rumor goes, but we'll need much more for AAPL stock to keep pushing north

By Hilary Kramer

On the top line, 70% of AAPL is phones. Barely 7% of the company’s revenue comes from tablet computing, and that piece of the overall footprint has actually shrunk as media and other services push it aside.

The iTunes/ApplePay/AppleCare ecosystem now plays a bigger role in the sum of the parts than all the iPads put together.

And while the service side is growing at a healthy 18%-26% per year, high-end tablet manufacturers like AAPL have struggled to hang onto the sweetest slice of a declining global market.

The New Apple Inc. iPad Strategy Is Sneakier Than You Think

The new iPad costs less than the iPad Air 2, but there are tradeoffs. In fact, now it's more expensive to buy an Apple tablet.

Stocks to Buy for the Next Decade: Apple (AAPL)

You can say what you want about the iPhone maker’s best days being behind it, but I have a feeling Apple Inc. (NASDAQ:AAPL) will continue to create products people want to buy for years to come.

What they are, I couldn’t tell you.

What I do know is that Apple will continue to generate a huge amount of free cash flow — $52.5 billion in the trailing 12 months through Dec. 31, 2016 — to reward shareholders for their patience and loyalty.

AAPL currently converts 71.7% of its EBITDA into free cash flow, which is pretty darn close to the 77.7% conversion rate of Amazon — a company known for doing a good job converting cash.

The most recent rumor on Wall Street has Apple and Walt Disney Co (NYSE:DIS) hooking up to form a media and tech conglomerate.

While speculative in nature, the combination would provide Apple with a few more avenues to generate ideas for new products.

At this point, while I like Disney, I’d say it needs Apple more than Apple needs it.

Here’s When Apple Could Give You the Biggest Profits

by TOM GENTILE

1. The iPhone 8

2. Project Titan

3. Its Services Business

Credit Suisse recently predicted that Apple’s services business (which includes the iTunes Store, the TV App Store, Apple Pay, and Apple Music) will double within the next three years.

Beware of Apple Inc. (AAPL) Stock in 2017

AAPL stock's rally on expectations for the iPhone 8 super-cycle is losing steam

By Luke Lango

At 17.1 times trailing earnings, AAPL stock is trading at a premium to its trailing five-year price-to-earnings multiple of 13.5X.

While I do not think AAPL is due for another 20% pullback, it is highly vulnerable at these levels. That is especially true considering the amount of bullishness surrounding the iPhone 8 super-cycle.

Apple Inc. (AAPL): You’re Right to Be Skeptical of AAPL Stock

Apple opens its Worldwide Developer Conference next week on top of the world.

By Dana Blankenhorn

Expectations for the iPhone 8 are over the moon.

It is, in the end, just another phone, and the price difference between new Apple products and good, even if unspectacular, Android products continues to rise — not narrow, as you would expect in a mature market.

Maturity is the theme that has our writers concerned. The iPhone, iPad and the Macintosh are mature products.

The leading edge of computing is in areas like Siri, which leads to artificial intelligence applications, in gaming, where Apple has no play, and in health, where Apple keeps teasing (but not delivering) a Watch that can do real medical tests.

We are right to be skeptical. Not enough to sell, but enough to let our fingers hover over the sell button.

Dear Cuffie,

Welcome to the forum!

From the articles above, the "experts" seems to be hoping on:-
1. lower tax rates,
2. repatriation of their massive foreign cash hoard and
3. i-phone 8
to provide AAPL with the required catalysts to move higher.

(I'm just watching AAPL and do not have a position in it).
