Beneficiary of growth in genomics and IoT

We highlight that Venture should benefit from two key trends which are in a multi-year
growth cycle:
(1) technological advances in genome sequencing and
(2) industrial IoT adoption.

Venture's management highlighted that it is the sole supplier for Illumina's sequencing machines. Illumina has received orders for 230 units of NovaSeq and we estimate the market size to be
~2,850 units.

Based on our estimates, we expect the launch of NovaSeq to add incremental revenues of up to S$800 mn p.a.

Management highlighted factory automation/smart building as one of the areas that it is expecting to see strong growth in and we expect that to be reflected in Venture's networking segment.

We raise our FY17-19 earnings estimates by 6-16% to factor in higher revenue growth assumptions, driven mainly by the potential of genome sequencing and industrial IoT adoption.

We raise our target price from S$16.40 to S$20 and maintain our OUTPERFORM rating. Our FY17/18 earnings estimate of S$261 mn is 7.7%/19% above consensus, respectively.

Venture Corporation (ADD, tp:S$20.87) - Re-rating likely to continue

Venture is witnessing strong earnings momentum in 4Q16-2Q17, driven by customers in test & measurement/medical/others and networking & communications segments.

We expect seasonality to persist in FY17F, with Venture experiencing stronger earnings in 2H17F vs. 1H17.

Fischer Tech sale proceeds provide potential DPS upside of S$0.10 for FY17F.

On top of the base DPS of S$0.50, we estimate FY17F DPS could rise to S$0.60.

After rolling over to a higher FY17F EPS and applying a higher P/E multiple of 17.3x (0.5 s.d. above historical 10-year average of 15.2x), our TP rises to S$20.87.

Strong growth momentum expected to continue into FY18 on the back of strong demand for end-user products and better margins

CEO’s share purchases a positive sign

Potential for at least 10% increase in dividends to S$0.55/share (which was paid back in FY2010 –
FY2011)

Venture Corp: Strong growth momentum to continue

Venture Corporation Ltd (VMS) posted strong double-digit YoY revenue growth over the past three quarters, and even more impressively, it recorded double-digit YoY growth in its PATMI over the past eight quarters, driven by margins expansion that we expect to persist going forward.

And since FY12, VMS has consistently posted stronger 2H results compared to 1H, a trend which we expect to continue in FY17 as well. Hence, all things considered we are raising our FY17–FY21 PATMI forecasts by 10%–15%.

Separately, we believe VMS CEO’s, Mr. Wong, recent open market purchases of VMS’s shares provide a very clear positive signal of his confidence over where he believes the company is heading towards.

Consequently, as we factor in for a stronger 2H in FY17 on the back of continued margins expansion, our FV increases from S$14.80 to S$20.33.

Reiterate BUY on VMS. Given its outstanding results for the past few quarters, solid balance sheet and sanguine outlook, we believe there is much scope for VMS to potentially increase its dividend, which has ranged between S$0.50 to S$0.55/share since FY08.

Venture Corporation (VMS SP)

3Q17 Results Above Expectations; Making The Old Economy New

Venture’s 3Q17 results were above our expectations with net profit a whopping 134.8% higher yoy.

2017 has been a breakthrough year for Venture, justifying its approach for careful selection of customers that are industry leaders in fast-growing technology domains.

This approach creates interdependencies between Venture and its customers, resulting in far superior net margins.

Maintain BUY with a higher target price of S$23.50.

The re-rating continues

3Q17/9M17 revenue was in line at 27%/75% of CIMB and consensus FY17 forecasts.

3Q17/9M17 net profit was above at 43%/88% of CIMB and consensus FY17 forecasts due to better-than-expected margins.

3Q17 was notable for the continued strong yoy revenue growth of 50.5% and the second consecutive quarter of generating more than S$1.0bn revenue.

Pre-tax margin expanded to 12.4% in 3Q17 (8.0% in 3Q16). We raise our FY17-19 EPS forecasts to reflect the better margin.

Our TP rises to S$24.74, still based on 17.3x FY19F EPS (0.5 s.d. above its 10-year historical average of 15.2x). Maintain Add.

Venture Corp: R&D drives sustainable margins expansion

Venture Corporation Ltd’s (VMS) 9M17 revenue grew 44.5% YoY to S$2.92b driven by a diversified revenue base, continuing strong execution of customers’ programmes and deepening of collaborative partnership with strategic customers.

In-line with revenue growth, 9M17 operating expenses rose 41.3% to S$2.65b.

Consequently, VMS’ 9M17 PATMI came in above our expectations as it jumped 81.5% YoY to S$229.8m, which formed 88.2% of our FY17 forecasts.

Looking ahead, we believe VMS’ margins expansion seen for 9M17 is sustainable as it continues to pursue its strategy of value creation for its customers by engaging in research and development (R&D) work alongside its customers.

We also believe 4Q17 will be the strongest quarter for the year based on historical track record.

Hence, on above expectations 9M17 results and the aforementioned reasons, we are raising our FY17–FY21 PATMI forecasts by 15%–20%.
