RESEARCH ALERT- OCBC raises Hyflux target to S$2.70, keeps "buy"

SINGAPORE, Jan 13 (Reuters) - OCBC Investment Research has raised its target price for Singapore water firm Hyflux to S$2.70 from S$2.44 and kept its "buy" rating.

STATEMENT: OCBC has raised its 2011 revenue and earnings estimates for Hyflux by 3 and 6.7 percent respectively, as it expects the firm to secure more contracts in China.

"We think that Hyflux remains well positioned to win more water and wastewater treatment contracts in China, given its superior water treatment technology and good execution track record," OCBC said in a report.

The brokerage noted that Hyflux intends to focus efforts on winning more deals in the Middle East as well, another region expected to suffer chronic water shortages.

Hyflux shares have risen 0.55 percent since the start of last year to close at S$2.38 on Wednesday.

RESEARCH ALERT-IIFL cuts Hyflux to sell, slashes target to S$1.60

SINGAPORE, Feb 25 (Reuters) - Indian securities firm IIFL has downgraded Singapore wastewater treatment firm Hyflux to sell from buy and cut its target price to S$1.60 from S$2.85.

STATEMENT: IIFL cut its 2011 earnings estimate for Hyflux by 12 percent and its 2012 estimate by 28 percent to account for the potential loss in revenue from the firm's projects in Libya.

"The key concerns is unavoidable delay in the two mega desalination projects in Libya and uncertainty on new desalination contract wins in the high margin Middle East and North African region," said IIFL in a report.

Shares of Hyflux fell 1.5 percent at 0129 GMT and have fallen 15.5 percent since the start of the year.
