KepCorp gg to list a biz trust KGT (K-Green Trust) & will distribute this KGT to its shdrs.

KGT will own, for a start & subj to approval,
1) Senoko Plant,
2) Tuas DBOO Plant and
3) Ulu Pandan Plant
and their respective business undertakings.
All of the Plants have commenced commercial operations as at the date of this Announcement.

Never say wat's the yield of this trust. Guess gonna wait for the circular to be out.

Special dividend in specie for Entitled Shareholders
The Company will distribute approximately S$379 million to Entitled Shareholders by way of a dividend in specie, in the form of up to 326 million KGT Units (comprising approximately 50.5% of the KGT Units to be issued) which will be separately listed and traded on the SGX-ST. This translates into an implied value of approximately S$1.16 per KGT Unit. Accordingly, the distribution value per Share is approximately 23 cents (on the basis of 1 KGT Unit for 5 Shares).

btw kepcorp also declared a final div of $0.23

Keppel Corp says Q4 net profit up 30%

SINGAPORE - Singapore's Keppel Corp, the world's biggest offshore rig maker, on Tuesday reported a 30 per cent rise in fourth quarter net profit, helped by strong contribution from property and higher margins in its rig business.

The conglomerate earned S$343 million (US$244.1 million) in the three months ended December 2009, up from S$263 million a year ago.

Keppel said it had an order book of S$5.6 billion with deliveries until 2013, down from S$6 billion in the previous quarter.

Keppel also said it planned to list a 'green' business trust in Singapore and would give 50.5 per cent of the units to shareholders in the form of a dividend.

this whole affair about "green" is a hype...imo...

one significant theme behind "green" environment is about burning less carbon emitting fossil fuels...

i paid attention to a Discovery Channel program, and by no means verifiable, that carbon dioxide is not just a green house gas, it is actually required for the proper functioning of the ozone layer... the "experts" interviewed claimed that the industrial carbon emission is not totally responsible for the amount of carbon footprint in our atmosphere. They say that it is the result of the solar flares that occur naturally, which is the significant cause of carbon footprint in our ozone layer... ie, whenever there was a series of solar flares historically, that warmed our oceans and our oceans are the largest emitter of carbon dioxide....

so, in a gist, they claim that it is not carbon dioxide due to industrialization that is causing the earth to warm... but, in fact the scientific explanation is that the sun out of the norm flares that warmed our planet unduly in the past and that resulted in release of unusually high amounts of carbon dioxide from the ocean... and they went on saying that the total amount of carbon emission due to human industrialization is nothing compared to what our oceans are naturally emitting...

i know..i get lost reading the above too... so how about this simple logic :

Sun Flares >> Warm Oceans >> Oceans emit high amounts of CO2 --- this is the scientific argument of non-Gore camp

Industrialization >> emit CO2 >> Warming the earth -- Al Gore's reasoning

so now... who's right? you decide..and then decide if Al Gore is just an eloquent huckster afterall

The Kyoto Protocol.

Why? Because it is about money.

If you have a project that can be certified by UN (or whatever the official authority is) as green.... the 'savings' in whatever carbon emissions can be traded. And that is how the money flows.

I am just concerned about its dwindling order book -

2005 - $7.2 billion
2006 - $10.5 billion
2007 - $12.2 billion
2008 - $10.7 billion
2009 - $5.5 billion

I am just wondering whether does it mean that Keppel's O&M Division only has $5.5 billion worth of revenue left to book in for the next 3 years ??? Wouldn't the sharp drop in revenue affect its profitability after 2011 ???
