Thanks for sharing, this is useful knowledge.
Just wondering, for the bigger "blue chip" developers with perhaps greater minority substantial shareholders and "more represented" management, does this phenomenon get by easily?

CapitaLand Q4 net profit soars on one-time gain

SINGAPORE, Feb 11 (Reuters) - CapitaLand , Southeast Asia's biggest developer, on Thursday posted a more-than-five- fold rise in fourth quarter net profit, helped by a massive one-time gain from the listing of its shopping mall arm.

CapitaLand earned S$886 million ($625 million) in the three months ended Dec 31, up from a revised S$168 million a year earlier. Its earnings were below the average forecast of around S$1.1 billion by three analysts polled by Reuters.

The fourth quarter result included a one-time gain of S$899.8 million from the initial public offering of shopping mall unit CapitaMalls Asia in November, which offset revaluation losses on other investment properties.

CapitaLand, which is 40 percent owned by Singapore state investor Temasek, said it will pay a first and final dividend of 5.5 Singapore cents as well as a special dividend of 5 cents for 2009.

CapitaLand shares have fallen 11 percent since the start of the year, double the 5.3 percent drop in the benchmark Straits Times Index

Look at Kheng Leong (the pte property arm of the Wee family of UOB) and their inter-play with UOL.

I've been writing abt this for so long : still awaiting to pick up this ticker but yet to determine the right time.
It's a good play cuz it's an index stock and so there is high liquidity for it.

what about Farrer court......they are not even building it.
Gillman heights has started construction before Farrer.
Would Farrer be a big Lemon in the future for Capitland?? consider the $$$ they/investors paid for it?

CapitaLand Q1 net profit more than doubles

By EMILYN YAP

CapitaLand on Friday reported a net profit of $115.4 million for the first quarter ended Mar 31, 2010. This is 2.7 times the $42.9 million earned a year ago.

Revenue rose 41 per cent over the same period to $687.3 million, with contributions coming largely from residential development projects in Singapore, China and Vietnam. There were also higher contributions from service residence operations.

The property giant's earnings per share in Q1 was 2.7 cents, up from 1.2 cents in the previous year.

Not vested. From DBS:-

Maintain BUY on CapitaLand, TP S$5.03.

Capitaland’s regional & multi-sector exposure will enable the group to somewhat offset the projected weakness in demand for residential units in China.

Capitaland’s overall RNAV exposure to residential in China is about 12%.

CapitaLand has several joint ventures with alcohol and agri-biz Thai baron, Charoen Sirivadhanabhakdi. This baron and the Bangkok Bank are prominently targetted by the Red Shirts. I'm wondering when they would slash rates for their 8 serviced aprts in Bangkok.
