Should I file under "Warning Signs" ?

Abundantly wrong’ to expect correction: Gartman

by Leslie Shaffer

Dennis Gartman, Founder, Editor & Publisher at the Gartman Letter, admits that instead of being neutral on stocks, he should have been "pleasantly long."

Bears' call for a market correction after the relentless rally has been wrong for years and it's likely to remain wrong, Dennis Gartman, publisher of the closely watched Gartman Letter, told CNBC.

"Having called for a correction, I have been abundantly wrong," Gartman said.

A correction is typically defined as a market downturn of 10 percent or more.

"I am probably going to be wrong continuing to expect one. It's best to err on the side of remaining quietly bullish," he said.

On CNBC:-

This is the beginning of a bear market and can last a few months

Note: Not too long ago, he said that he has turned bullish :D

If he was not correct before, why would he be correct this time ?

So did he frightened you, when he said the above ?

Oct 18: Dow up 263 today. Does it feel like a bear market that can last a few weeks to you ?

And if you have shorted because you also think that it will be a bear market that can last a few weeks, you wouldn't know what hit you today...

Reminder to myself: When the "gurus" starts to panic, that's probably the time to trade in the opposite direction..

So how correct was Mr. Gartman on his prediction that the market will be weak for a few weeks ?

Dennis just mentioned that he was wrong and he now thinks that we are still in a bull market.

Therefore, I will take this as a signal to be careful and to pare my existing position in Equities.

Get out of stocks: Gartman

By Leanne Miller

"You can only sell what you can sell," he said. "And sometimes that even means good investments."

Gartman: It's definitely a bear market this time

By Holly Ellyatt

In October, he reversed his bearish stance and said he was then bullish on stocks, only to be proven incorrect as market weakness continued amid uncertainty over the timing of a Federal Reserve hike in interest rates, which eventually occurred in December to little fanfare in stock markets.

Gartman: I'm not so bullish on bullion right now

by Tom DiChristopher

The Gartman Letter publisher believes buying gold is a smart move in the long term, but not in the coming days.

Gartman expects gold to slide back to $1,215 to $1,225 or so, at which point he said he might be a buyer.
