Sunny time for handset lens shipments

by Samantha Wong

Sunny Optical Technology (2382), a supplier of lenses to Apple, said its shipment volume of handset lens sets increased by 50.6 percent in March from a year ago, while the volume rose 11.3 percent from February.

The shipment volume of vehicle lens sets increased by 10.5 percent from the previous year. The company said it was mainly due to the rapid growth in the vehicle imaging field and the gain in global market share of the vehicle lens sets.

Meanwhile, Q Technology Company (1478) said total sales volume of camera modules in March increased by about 50.2 percent compared with a year earlier.

Sales of camera modules with resolutions of 10 megapixels and above increased by 44.7 percent from the previous year.

The changes are mainly due to the sales rebound after the Lunar New Year holidays. Total sales volume of fingerprint recognition modules increased by 25.7 percent.
