Why Silver Could Outperform Gold Through 2018

Things are starting to look up for silver as industry observers believe it will outperform gold this quarter and into 2018.

Silver demand has fallen in India.

Earlier this year it fell to as low as 68, but has recently been stuck between 74 and 80.

India consumed 160.6Moz (4,996t) last year, which accounted for a noteworthy 16% of global silver demand.

Gold is acting as if the Fed is going to hike and reduce its balance sheet.

Goldman Sachs Thinks a Tremendous Plunge In Gold Prices Is Coming

Goldman Sachs has come out cautious on the near-term price of gold. Here's what is driving their worry.

Potential for prices to fall 14% from current levels.

They see gold prices falling to $1,100 an ounce after the market was unable to test key resistance around $1,380 an ounce.

The investment bank maintained its outlook that gold prices will end the year at $1.250 an ounce.

Gold Price Manipulation Happening Now More Than Ever? - Frank Holmes

There's something odd going on with the gold price says U.S. Global Investors CEO Frank Holmes

By Daniela Cambone

"Governments and central banks are manipulating interest rates, it's very evident," he said following the release of the latest Federal Open Market Committee minutes Wednesday.

"They move interest rates around so there's no doubt they can do this with gold." Holmes added that manipulation - or "price suppression" - would be a way to explain why the yellow metal has been unable to hold on to recent rallies.

"It's amazing that it is what it is."

Why Silver Prices Are On Fire

Silver prices have ever so quietly had a great October. What are investors positioning for? One expert weighs in on the metal's advance.

By Daniela Cambone

"I think near-term, we will see $18.50-$19 silver. The bear market for the metals is over and as equities will sell-off, that money has to go somewhere. We will see higher prices for silver."

Four major catalysts for gold

by Jim Rickards

Pictet’s strategist, Luc Luyet, says that the Fed will be on hold for the rest of 2017 and most of 2018 because of U.S. disinflation and the failure of President Trump to deliver on his growth agenda.

With the Fed in easing mode, the dollar will weaken and the dollar price of gold will remain strong.

China has upped its estimate of proven gold reserves to 12,100 tonnes.

China’s official gold reserves are about 1,800 tonnes, but may be as high as 5,000 tonnes once off-the-books gold is counted.

Gold: 1304.60, +8.10.

Gold rallied on the week and then broke back up through the 50 day MA on Friday.

It too doubts the Fed.

Here’s an Investment You Should Not Forget About

It’s pretty near impossible to build a growth portfolio without a very large weighting of technology stocks.

My smartphone may have 0.35 grams of silver, and if I lived in a house that used solar power, silver would be critical to the photovoltaic modules providing my electricity.

The auto I drive may have as much as 2 to 3 ounces of silver, depending on how many connections it has and the type of windshield heater.

The bottom line is that over the next several years, silver is likely to be in extremely short supply.
