USD/JPY: 111.92 versus 111.941

Continued the tight lateral range for the week after breaking up through the 200 day SMA. Trying to make a breakout, struggling to continue the upside.

Historical: Last below 109 in June 2018 then tumbled to 107 in early January 2019. 114.51 is the recent high from October 2018.

USD/JPY: 111.565 versus 111.547.

Dollar weakened late week but managed to hold the 50 day MA in its 8 week lateral range.

Perhaps just a shakeout before breaking higher. Perhaps.

USD/JPY: 111.097 vs 111.421.

This time dollar closed below the 50 day MA's.

Looks as if it is going to sell toward 110, possibly 109.50.

USD/JPY: 108.291 versus 109.262

Dollar crashed lower; so much for an attempted short double bottom.

108 is next support.

USD/JPY: 108.18 versus 108.372

The dollar moved higher to the 10 day EMA on the week, then reversed hard downside Friday.

Looks as if it failed at the 10 day EMA again.

Japan warns of need for currency stability as yen falls continue

Domestic media and some market participants have warned of the potential demerits of a weak yen, which pushes up import prices and households' cost of living at a time the economy is recovering from the Covid-19 pandemic.
