Capitalizing on the surprising upside in the U.S. dollar

by Dr. Steve Sjuggerud

ProShares UltraShort Euro Fund (EUO).

EUO is a “double inverse” fund. For every 1% daily fall in the euro, EUO goes up by 2%, and vice versa.

EUR/USD: 1.16091 versus 1.16330.

Dollar rallied, euro dropped below the September and October lows to close the week.

Kind of a 3 month head and shoulders formed on the euro.

EUR/USD: 1.16092 versus 1.16575.

After moving up to the 10 day EMA in a recovery move, Friday the euro started lower again.

The rounded top looks to be in against the dollar and the euro is heading lower.

The euro’s lucky streak will come to an end in 2018

The single currency will face a number of challenges in the year ahead, not least of which is the growing US interest rate spread

France, normally an economic laggard in Germany’s shadow, is enjoying its fastest pace of business activity for over two decades.

Even Greece is back on track again.

Youth unemployment is running close to 40% in some southern European economies.
