Qatar Telecom buys further 7.45 pct in Singapore's StarHub

DUBAI Nov 16 (Reuters) - Qatar Telecom has acquired a further 7.45 pct in StarHub, Singapore's second biggest telecom firm, through its Asia Mobile Holdings joint venture with Singapore Tehnologies Telemedia, a statement to the Abu Dhabi bourse said.

StarHub Ltd , Singapore's second largest telecom firm, on Thursday posted a 15 percent rise in fourth quarter net profit and said it expects operating revenue to grow in the low- single-digit range this year.

I am thinking hard. Is ".starhub" really worth $230k?

Singapore market size is only this big and just about most people knows Starhub.

How much more spin can they put into this?

A normal ".com" domain cost less than SG$20 a year.

Isn't 230k excessive in terms of branding and marketing to a population of 6M..of which maybe one third is your target market?

In my opinion, it is a waste of money .

StarHub, Singapore's second-biggest telecommunication firm, posted on Friday a 28 percent rise in first-quarter net profit and said it intends to maintain its annual dividend of 20 Singapore cents a share for 2012.
