Singapore Exchange 03 (Feb 11 - Dec 24)

Come to think of it...how would one invest/trade this counter?

Merger goes through...got size..but increase debt

Merger fail, debt did not increase...but market size small...volume may remains flat. Limited growth ahead.

Note:
This is not specific to SGX alone. Similar situations are happening on the NASDAQ/ICE..NYSE merger
1. Always wait for the setup. NO SETUP; NO TRADE

2. The trend will END but I don't know WHEN.

Filter out the Noise and just focus on Valuation. :P

I would focus on the PE and compared it to future EPS growth ie. PEG ratio

Singapore should walk the talk, a more pithy pitch by merging with LSE and Toronto Stock Exchange. Our lives will be doubly more exciting  .

Singapore Exchange Says It’s Open to Talks With Hong Kong

http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-05-0 ... ng-1-.html

Singapore Exchange Ltd. (SGX), blocked by Australian regulators in its takeover of ASX Ltd. (ASX), is prepared to discuss a merger with other bourses such as Hong Kong, according to President Muthukrishnan Ramaswami.

The exchange isn’t currently working on a “transformational deal,” and is focusing on expanding its clearing services for derivatives, growing company listings and finding collaborative agreements that drive revenue, he said in an interview yesterday at the World Federation of Exchanges IOMA/IOCA conference in Mumbai.

“If Hong Kong came to us and said: shall we merge, we wouldn’t say no at all,” Ramaswami said. “Hong Kong would bring us size. We have no problem being a junior partner. But it would be all about the detail.” There has been no approach or discussion to date, he said.

Singapore Exchange to offer trading in ADRs of Japan, Korean companies

SINGAPORE, May 11 (Reuters) - Singapore Exchange said on Wednesday it will offer trading in the American Depositary Receipts (ADRs) of a number of top Japanese and Korean companies, the latest in a series of recent moves to increase trading volumes.

Investors will be able to trade the ADRs of five Japanese companies including Toyota Motor Corp <7203.T> and Mizuho Financial Group <8411.T> as well as South Korea's POSCO <005490.KS> from May 18.

SGX launched its ADR trading service last October and already offers trading in a number of U.S.-listed Chinese companies, allowing investors to deal in them during Asian trading hours.

The bourse, which failed last month in a bid to merge with Australia's ASX , has launched a series of recent initiatives to diversify its business offering including clearing of over-the-counter derivatives and Reach, its new high-frequency trading system.

RESEARCH ALERT-CIMB has cut SGX to underperform, target S$8.14

SINGAPORE, June 2 (Reuters) - CIMB Research has downgraded Singapore Exchange (SGX) to underperform from outperform and cut its target price to S$8.14 from S$10.12.

STATEMENT: CIMB has lowered its securities value traded assumptions for SGX for 2012-2013 by 18-19 percent and cut its earnings per share estimates by 20-21 percent.

"A weak debut of American depositary receipts, plus a lack of real traction for new products makes it increasingly doubtful if a high-speed trading network can bring in global participants, as intended," said CIMB in a report.

CIMB said SGX may be falling behind in its bid to capture more listings in the region.

Hong Kong's watershed yuan-denominated Hui Xian REIT initial public offering could attract more such listings and undermine Singapore's status as one of the leading real estate investment trust markets in Asia.

At 0301 GMT, shares of SGX were 0.5 percent lower at S$7.53 and have lost about 12 percent since the start of the year.

RESEARCH ALERT-DMG upgrades China Fishery to buy; target S$1.77

SINGAPORE, June 2 (Reuters) - DMG & Partners Research has upgraded China Fishery , a Singapore-listed industrial fishing company, to buy from neutral but maintained its target price of S$1.77.

STATEMENT: DMG said China Fishery's share price has fallen around 13 percent since mid-May and the sell-down is unwarranted given the company's sound fundamentals.

Traders attribute the fall in share price to concerns that the Japan earthquake will affect its business.

DMG said it remains optimistic on China Fishery's earnings for the second half of the fiscal year ending September as the delay of fish roe to Japan due to the earthquake may result in higher selling prices for the coming quarter.

The brokerage added that the fishing season in Peru had begun in April and the performance for China Fishery's South Pacific and Mauritania operations is expected to be in line with or better than that for the first half.

At 0133 GMT, China Fishery shares were down 0.7 percent at S$1.54 on a volume of 17,000 shares.
