Yes, I dont believe in wasting things when they are in good order.

I guess balance is probably the right thing to do.
It's all about "how much you made when you were right" & "how little you lost when you were wrong"

Maybe it is becuz that your earning and purchasing power has gone up considerably since your school boy days..

When I was very young ( maybe 7 ? ), I recalled going to Robinson with my parents and mum mentioned that the things there are very expensive and we cant afford those things.

Over the years, our purchasing power has gone up and we would not need to think twice about buying things from Robinson..

W : u r right....all of our purchasing power has gone up...we have become somewhat affluent...

i was referring to metro as having lost her ability to keep up with the fashion times... their shops have largely remained the same concept since almost 30 years ago... the way their merchandise are being displayed...really looks no different from a geylang serai stall except it is in an aircoditioned room..

yes, that many years ago, it was attractive to be shopping in metro, for the aircon, to mingle with the people who only had metro and tangs to go to...now, we have almost unlimited choices...so much so, some people only shop in boutique shops...

metro, imo, has not been able to follow the fashion needs of most retailers... even at my age, i no longer shop at metro...do you think the teens and early 20s of today will do so?

i was trying to point out that, imo, i would not bet on a counter like metro, based solely on my personal observation on how well or not, they have been doing in the past and will do in the future...bleak !!!

Actually hor K - Metro Holdings' core business is property... it accounts for 78.6% of its 2008 turnover. Retail only 21.4%. :D

edit: Wah blast from the past - just saw that Winston Choo is on its BoD. Now that's a really old name. :D
