However, after attending the last AGM, my view change and I have since disposal off all my shares, with a little kopi money..keke.. :D

And if u want to know why I have a changed mind..okie...I can share, but this is purely my own view hor...

Reason 1 - The carbon credit stuff is not going to be a big revenue contributor for EcoWise. It may not even be recurring. This is very technical, and I am not a technical person. In short, a company will need to "save" some credit and then sell it to others that need more credit. This is not a product that you can produce and sell. It is more of a by-product. (Note: my understanding may be wrong as I have said I am not a technical person)

Reason 2 - They have stock option for staff, well that is okay. But what surprise me is that the exercise price is $0. The management said that they will give stock options if "certain" targets are achieved.

Reason 3 - When a very very senior staff of the company was asked on what he thinks the fair value of the share price should be, his answered that the company share price should worth $0.XX cents, using a PE of 15. :o I hope the ah pek and ah mam shareholders do their homework first before throwing their hard earned money in. For SGX counters, many solid, big cap companies don't even command a PE of 15.

Above are based on my recollection of the AGM which happened a few months back. Anyone here attended the AGM would like to confirm or counter the above?

Hi rontan, I am shocked that the exercise price for stock option is $0. They are extremely not friendly to shareholders and I think this is the final straw. As for PE, I think many small companies command a very high PE since they are in growth phase. Bigger blue chip kind will command a lower PE (depending on industry too), so it's not surprising that the senior staff gave this kind of PE. At its height, the PE of ecowise was 16.5x ,hoho! In fact, the crazier the company, the higher the PE in general :) It's more speculative than investment quality company already.

Thks for your insights :) Learnt a few things about ecowise I wouldn't have known.

No, I have not. It is easy to understand the concept of recycling, but not easy to understand the business model and technical competency of a company in the recycling business. Guess I will go into some thing easier, I simple minded mah ;)

so..it means that to buy a company, one should preferably have a very sound understanding of how the company operates...

wah, like dat ah....HK liao... i have some SQ shares...but all i know about SQ is that it is an airliner..... i should really know how they hedge jet fuel, whether it makes sense to order food from SATS Catering, whether they should consider procuring other technical services outside of SIA Engineering, etc.... if their cabin crew division should be run by ex-cabin crew who got too old and fat to fly onboard, if they should even have SIA Properties Division to perform FM Management when it could be cheaper to tender this out to 3rd party, etc...

then, before i buy hyflux, i must chio olivia lum out for drinks...get her drunk so she'll spew all her operational problems in hyflux and why the share price is at such ridiculous low price when they have so loudly touted themselves as the best in the water recycling business...can even convert sai water into drinkable water, we call NEW Water....
