Cultural Revolution.......


2 Documentaries.....1 on a family during Cultural Revolution where his teacher wife got battered to death by her students and Red Guards. The man took photos of his dead wife to keep an account.....Might be a bit gross for some.....

The Taiping revolution resulted in a transfer of military power from Manchus to Chinese officials which later lead to overthrow of Qing Dynasty 50 years later.....

bro BHA, nowadays i seek out certain PRC made movies to watch to understand their social norms. often, i pay attention not to the main storyline but to the background images of China society, in the hope that i can better appreciate how China is today...

do you think the Chinese have changed in their attitude and behaviour over the last 5 decades?

The cultural revolution 'smashed' all the beliefs/traditions. When communism declined, there is a spiritual emptiness. They are more realist(selfish)(individualistic) than the Chinese overseas. That's why we have poisonous products and foodstuffs.....make money first....but I got to admit that religion is slowly coming back and there are many highly developed spiritual persons. Highly developed in that sense that I doubt Singapore has any to match them. There are many many good people in China and vice versa. Their bell curve is very wide..........
