Remember, in the 3 squares, to click on the:

1. the tip of the top of the Chinese junk,

2. the horse's rump, and

3. the gate

and your eyes will be feasted with more wonders. With a click, you can stop the masterpiece to admire its detailed beauty.

Cherry, indeed very nice! Any calligraphy ones too? I love paintings of gods..dunno why :)

The Saatchi Gallery
www.saatchi-gallery.co.uk

"The World's Interactive Art Gallery" indeed. One part art crit blog. One part Myspace Visual Art. One part giant Saatchi ad campaign. Site offers listings of university art/design programs and online fairs and galleries in pretty much every major city worldwide. Also at your fingertips: Chat booths for artists, online critiques, studios, salesrooms and a photo blog of worldwide street art. Plus a gladiator-style "Artwork Showdown!"

BEST: Lots and lots of options for artsy fun.
WORST: Distracting flashing ads.

It's Fun to Know: Spot the Fake

So you've inherited a Van Gogh from your great uncle Frank. But you're pretty sure it's a fake. Now there's a new way to tell.

Painstaking research and examination by an art expert has been the standard for detecting forgeries. But a technique developed by scientists at Penn State uses technology to scan an artist's known paintings and break down their unique brushstrokes - in essence, their "handwriting" - into digital information. The information is then stored in a database, where it can be compared to possible fakes. The technology is still in the testing phase, but its creators hope to make it available to art historians in the near future.
