Thumb Drive

Yesterday, I had a very strong feeling that I should save some of my spreadsheets onto another drive. Thereafter, I saved them and sent it by email to myself.

This morning, my Thumb Drive was no longer working. Although, I lost a few hours of work, it would have been much worse if I did not saved my stuff and sent them by email to myself.

Going forward, I would need to save my stuff in two different place all the time...

Lucky ? Intuition ? Need to trust it more ...

World's Luckiest Woman Reveals Her Winning Mind Tricks
Source: The Winning Sage

In the New York World's Fair of 1964, the Formica Corporation sponsored a nationwide contest, with the grand prize being a copy of the World's Fair Home, plus the lot, built anywhere in the US the winner chooses. Of course, out of 1.5 Million entries, Helene and Pat Hadsell won.

"For God's sake, act surprised!"

What makes this story rather unusual -- besides the fact they won -- is that she KNEW she was going to win. Without a doubt. In fact, she had her husband take the day off work, because 'she knew' the Formica People were coming over that day to tell them they had won. She told her husband, "For God's sake, act surprised!"

She has won cars, furniture, stereos, musical instruments, clothing, groceries, trips to Europe... Whenever Helene sees something that she wants, she finds a contest that is giving that particular something away, and she wins it. She told her husband that she wanted to be sitting in a sidewalk cafe, in Paris, sipping a glass of wine on her 40th birthday. Several months before her birthday she entered a contest sponsored by a cola company, "Where in the World do you Want to Go, and Why?" Helene won...... 3rd prize, a Hammond Organ. Nice, but not what she wanted.

"You can have anything you want, provided you know what you want."

Helene's lucky streak began in 1958 while she was reading "The Power of Positive Thinking", by Dr. Norman Vincent Peale. She became excited when she read, "You can have anything you want, provided you know what you want".

Today, Helene is 84yrs old and is still as feisty as ever. Her list of personal friends include the late Dr. Norman Vincent Peale, the late Dr. Joseph Murphy (The Power of Your Subconscious Mind), the late Jose Silva (Silva Mind Control), and even Joe Vitale from the blockbuster movie, The Secret.

How to Win Contests Like a Pro

According to Helene, the key is a well know, although mysterious concept in Positive Thinking: Picture the thing you desire as having already happened or taken place.

Her formula is simple, and catchy.

Select It (know what you want)
Project It (see it as already happened)
Expect It (believe it is already yours)
Collect It.

It seems to have worked for Helene, who is now the author of several books, "Contesting: The Name it and Claim It Game", and "Confessions of an 83yr Old Sage".

Luck, Coincidence, or Synchronicity? By Jim Francis

Mathematician Warren Weaver, in his book, Lady Luck: The Theory of Probability, recounts a fascinating tale of coincidence that stretches our traditional notions of chance to their breaking point.

The story originally appeared in Life magazine. Weaver writes:
All fifteen members of a church choir in Beatrice, Nebraska, due at practice at 7:20, were late on the evening of March 1, 1950.

The minister and his wife and daughter had one reason (his wife delayed to iron the daughter’s dress) one girl waited to finish a geometry problem; one couldn’t start her car; two lingered to hear the end of an especially exciting radio program; one mother and daughter were late because the mother had to call the daughter twice to wake her from a nap; and so on.

The reasons seemed rather ordinary. But there were ten separate and quite unconnected reasons for the lateness of the fifteen persons. It was rather fortunate that none of the fifteen arrived on time at 7:20, for at 7:25 the church building was destroyed in an explosion.

The members of the choir, Life reported, wondered if their delay was "an act of God." Weaver calculates the staggering odds against chance for this uncanny event as about one chance in a million.

Six Ways to Attract Bad Luck By Steve Gillman
Excerpt from Secrets of Lucky People

There are two ways to improve the good luck / bad luck ratio in your life. One is to take steps to do those things that lead to more good luck. The other is to stop doing the things that cause bad luck. This lesson is about the latter. It is an examination of the actions, habits and thinking of unlucky people, so that you can learn what to avoid.

1. Unlucky People Wait For Good Luck

Those who are unlucky commonly say things like, "I'm waiting for my ship to come in." They are very passive in their approach to life. Meanwhile, while they wait, others are out there building ships. Work invites opportunities - waiting doesn't.

2. Unlucky People Act On Destructive Impulses

The other day, a man mentioned to me that he had bought a $200 hat. A moment later he said he was hoping they would approve his welfare application. Is this a problem with impulse control, or what? Is it perhaps possible that his bad habits lead to a place on the welfare rolls?

Wait a day before taking any action that commits time, energy or money towards something which isn't a major goal in your life. Do this until it becomes a habit. Probably you'll change your mind by the next day.

3. Unlucky People Concentrate On The Unpredictability Of Life

Random events happen, but unlucky people place too much importance on this. They see lottery winners and take that to mean they should wait for their "lucky break" to come.

4. Unlucky People Don't Learn From Mistakes

Some people just don't learn from their mistakes. They are typically described by themselves and others as unlucky.

Even better, learn from other's mistakes and you can avoid making many of your own. See how others create bad luck and don't do those things. That is what this lesson is about.

5. Unlucky People Only Think Short-Term

Plan a little further into the future. How would things be now if you had done the right things in the past? Do them now, and the future can be that bright.

Consider the long-term consequences of your actions, and write them down whenever you make an important decision.

6. Unlucky People Are Too Critical

You probably know a person who is an expert in why things won't work. These people can point out the flaws in every plan. They are mostly right too, which makes them all the more dangerous to themselves and others. Their "insight" is a poison that kills dreams.

Lucky Person: "If I do this right, there is a 99% chance of success."
Unlucky Person: "So you're saying you could fail?"

It is good to think critically, to see the truth, and so reduce risk. The problem comes when a person sees only the risk and the flaws. For example, this kind of thinking only sees the fact that 80% of restaurants fail, but ignores the other 20%.

If you want to move forward, see the weaknesses in your plan, but to each one add, "And this is what I can do about it..."

If you simply spend more time with people, for example, you have a better chance of learning something useful. If you start working in an area that interests you, you are more likely to succeed. Finally, if enough good things happen, you can't help but notice and that will weaken your identification with bad luck.

The Science of Luck By Drawk Kwast, Creator of The Alpha Male Lifestyle

The biggest reason you don't have the life you want is because you are focused on what you aren't getting. You see only your lack of luck.

Successful people live life as they desire because they focus on what they are getting. These people see all their options, and when they receive the benefits from wisely acting on the options, everyone else calls them lucky.

It was Machiavelli who told us that success is 50% luck, and the rest is how we respond to that luck through cunning and bravura.

Personally I believe that life is only 10% what happens to me and 90% how I respond to it, but this goes way beyond seeing the glass half empty or half full. This is the difference between seeing the glass or dying of thirst.

Most people hold the belief that some are just born lucky and others are not. They believe somehow that "fate" decides the lucky.

The most interesting thing to me about the concept of luck is that the world's biggest experts on the subject seem to be the ones who do not have it. The day I came to this realization was the day I realized the concept of luck was flawed.

Think of it like this. What if the biggest experts on financial investing were all bankrupt and the people with the most money had no idea how they did it? It would tell you that something else is going on that no one is seeing. This is how it is with luck.

Ask a lucky person why they are so lucky and the most popular answers will be either that they don't know or that it's because they expect good things to happen to them. The flaw in the logic of the second statement is simple. If you had been unusually lucky your entire life, would you not also start to expect it?

Ask a person who considers themselves unlucky about luck and expect everything from an emotional rant to a lengthy pseudo-scientific explanation based on something completely irrelevant like the day they were born on.

They will include that the "fact" (as they see it) that because their luck has been so bad for so long, it means that their luck has to be about to change for the better. Ask them about a person who is lucky and they will tell you that because they have been so lucky for so long, they should be careful because their luck is about to run out. None of this is necessarily true.

I have known people who spend their entire lives falling on their face and I have known people who always land on their feet, no matter what happens. The key to what I am about to show you is in the last part of that sentence, "...no matter what happens." This has nothing to do with luck. It's pure science.

There was a very interesting study done on luck by Richard Wiseman, a psychologist at the University of Hertfordshire. He gave a newspaper to both a group of "lucky" and a group of "unlucky" people. Both groups were asked to look through the newspaper and tell him how many photographs it contained.

On average, the unlucky people took about two minutes to count the photographs, whereas the lucky people took just seconds.

Why? Because the second page of the newspaper contained the message: "Stop counting. There are 43 photographs in this newspaper." This message took up half of the page and was written in type that was more than 2 inches high. It was staring everyone straight in the face, but the unlucky people tended to miss it and the lucky people tended to spot it followed by adjusting their actions based on what they found.

It's not about luck. It's about keeping your eyes open.

I am the type of person who is considered lucky. I learned how to be lucky. I interact with as many people as possible to create as many opportunities as I can for myself. I separate from the negative and pursue the positive in very creative ways.

I know when to hold on to value that others don't see and when to let go for something better that I usually find hiding right in front of my face. It's not that I have better luck than other people; it's that I can see things that others can't.

FEELING LUCKY?By Adrienne Marks

You ever wonder why some people are so lucky?

You know the kind that seem to have everything going for them and things just work out for them no matter what they do

They have a good relationship, a good job or career, things just go their way. It's as though luck is always on their side.

Why are they so lucky? I can show you why they are so lucky and I'll even show you how you can create the same kind of good luck.

You create your own luck - plain and simple. And now there's a study that proves this...
from a recent Reader's Digest Issue.

Researchers followed 400 people for 10-years, trying to find out why some are lucky and others are not. The results: you create your own luck based on how you think and how you see things.

Change the way you think, change the way you see things and you begin create your own good luck and good fortune. It's really that simple.

Researchers found that lucky people are lucky because they seize opportunities;
they create positive self-fulfilling prophecies and have a positive attitude that allows them to turn bad luck into good luck by focusing on what went right.

Instead of complaining, they're thankful for what happened and look at the positive side of the situation... they always see the glass as half full.

If you're not doing any of the above then you may find that you have more "bad" luck than good luck.

You can begin to change your luck and create good luck by training your mind to be more positive, more optimistic, be aware of opportunities and believe that you can have good fortune.

Begin creating a belief system that allows you to be lucky. If you want to create your own good luck then you have to keep an open mind and this means that you take a closer look at opportunities - don't dismiss those things that seem coincidental
.
If you want to earn more money and a friend suggests a potential investment, explore it
don't just dismiss it outright.

Unlucky people miss chance opportunities because they're too busy looking for something else, they're not open to possibilities and feel they have to do things a certain way.

Lucky people will examine what's in front of them instead of just focusing on what they're
looking for, they're more open minded to possibilities and are willing to do things a little differently.

Be open to all possibilities. Try a different approach when you can. Do things a little differently.

When you regularly do this you get your mind and subconscious mind to focus on finding ways to do things.

That's when luck begins to come your way. It's all because your subconscious mind begins to create the situations for you to succeed. But this will only happen when you believe you can have good luck and when you believe that you can succeed.

Start changing your luck today. Start believing that you can have what you want and good things will arrive.

To prove their point, researchers convinced most of those in the Unlucky group
to try doing things differently. Amazingly 80-percent of those who changed the way they did things, changed the way they saw things by focusing on the positive rather than the negative, changed the way they thought, became more positive and open minded were not only happier and more satisfied with their lives... THEY HAD BETTER LUCK!

Wow! A few simple changes led to a better life and created good luck while eliminating the bad luck!

It sounds so simple and it is but for some people changing the way they do things,
seeing possibilities and being more open minded when they're not used to doing this,
focusing on the good fortune instead of the bad luck, changing their routines and
trying a different approach is so different from what they're used to doing that they simply can't change.

Why? Because they are creatures of habit. who keep doing the same thing expecting a different outcome! You get into a habit and stick with it. Then the mind and subconscious mind get used to this habit and you can't change it with the snap of your fingers... it's not that easy.

So what do you do? Start changing and breaking those habits so that you create new habits that work for you and allow you to create the kind of luck that you want.

Train your mind and subconscious mind to start working for you by getting those great powers to move in a new direction.

How to Make Yourself Luckier By Noah St. John

Now some would say I got lucky. But after years of studying the Naturals of Success, I know that there are five ways you can MAKE yourself luckier:

1) Being in the Flow - Being in the moment, being spontaneous.

2) Coming From Love - There are only two ways to go through life: coming from fear or coming from Love. Coming from Love means you are coming from "more than enough" - and that's a vibration people can feel.

3) Coming From Service - Most people are stuck in a WIIFM mindset: "What's In It For Me?" Service-minded people are tuned to WIIFY: "What's In It For (or What Can I Do For) You?"

4) Trusting - Realizing that you don't have to know everything before you start.

5) Taking Action - Just doing SOMETHING. Movement is better than stagnation. Even when you make mistakes, you learn something - and do better next time.
