par se liao montblanc pen...like dol, many men dont need that long and fat black signature white flower pen to don the shirts anymore... these days, we carry them in our bags... or simply use Parker BallPoint $1 pen....

men now have more options, including diamond ear studs, diamond ring ( i particularly like the cartier design one) like so shown below, but remove the onyx and replace them all with small diamonds

i think, the trend is towards heritage, ie. watch that is designed to be passed from one generation to the next? (i love Blancpain watch ... do you?)

Still caught in the minimalist movement - including no watch ;)

In time to come, perhaps Audemars Piguet, Vacheron Constantin, Breguet or Patek Philippe. But not a priority for now.

A lot of the younger people do not have watches. When they need to know the time, it's on their mobile.

It's Good to Know: The Black Friday Myth

As Thanksgiving approaches, it is a mantra that will be repeated constantly by countless media outlets: The day after the holiday is the busiest shopping day of the year. But guess what? Though there may be huge crowds in the stores on "Black Friday," they'll mostly be window shopping.

In terms of sales, the Friday after Thanksgiving doesn't even make the top three. The most lucrative day for retailers is usually the Saturday before Christmas. Last-minute shopping, anyone?

High-street shopping losing appeal in plugged-in Asia

SINGAPORE, Nov 20 (Reuters Life!) - The Internet is replacing the high street as the shopping destination of choice in the Asia Pacific, with a new survey showing a majority of Internet users prefer to go online to buy everything from electronics to holidays.

According to the Visa e-Commerce Tracking survey, nearly 80 percent of Internet users polled in the region say they made an online transaction and spent an average of over $3,000 each in the past 12 months.

The survey of just over 3,000 people in six countries and regions -- Singapore, India, Australia, Japan, Korea and Hong Kong -- showed the main draw of e-commerce was convenience and value, with nearly 90 percent saying it enabled them to find the best prices, shop easily and at any time.

"With almost four in five Internet users buying online, people in Asia Pacific are taking full advantage of the global shopping experience that the Internet provides," Mohamad Hafidz, Visa's regional head for e-Commerce in the Asia Pacific said in a statement.

Nearly a quarter of the world's population -- roughly 1.4 billion people -- used the Internet on a regular basis in 2008, and in Asia Pacific, on average, a person spent about 20.2 hours a month online." The most popular items purchased online were airline and transport tickets, hotel rooms and other holiday-related products, followed by digital electronics such as cameras and online entertainment such as music downloads.

In the region, Japanese and Koreans were the most frequent shoppers, with 99 percent and 93 percent respectively having made an online purchase over the last 12 months.

Australians were the biggest online spenders with an average 12-month tab of $4,160, with Singaporeans the next-biggest online spenders. The Internet has also brought about an increase in the number of overseas purchases, with 75 percent people surveyed in Hong Kong having bought an item from a website abroad.

The survey was conducted on behalf of Visa in April and May of this year. Respondents were aged from 18 to 46 years and accessed the Internet at least once a week.

online shopping looks set to remain a way of life. This may spell more earnings for Visa International. V is now priced in the low 50s, compared to its debut price of usd60/share in mar08

High-end retail brands such as Bally and Etienne Aigner are offering discounts of up to 70 percent and launching year-end sales earlier than usual to spur flagging sales.

I first shopped in Uniqlo about 4 years ago, in China. Singapore now starting to be quite "ULU", hoh ?

=======================================================

Japan's Uniqlo to open stores in Singapore

Japanese casual clothing chain Uniqlo will open its first store in Singapore in April, operator Fast Retailing said Friday. A first Uniqlo store will open on April 9 in the "Tampines 1" shopping mall, which is currently under construction, followed by another shop in the ION Orchard mall in early June.

"Singapore will be a strategic move for us to expand in the Southeast Asian market, as part of our global strategies," Fast Retailing said. In addition to 746 stores in Japan, the Uniqlo brand has 66 overseas stores in Britain, China, France, Hong Kong and the United States.

The company is also planning to open stores in Russia and India in the near future. Uniqlo flourished during Japan's 1990s recessions by selling cheap but good quality clothing, mainly manufactured in China
