Catching a Falling Knife ( or Falling Safe )

Reminder to myself:

Cheap can become cheaper.

And this may not be a "V". It could be a 'L" for a few months until the Year End Window Dressing ...

TOL:-

If you want to catch a falling knife, let it touch the floor first and vibrate a few times before taking an initial position.

Also, make sure that the Market Direction is in your favor.

More importantly, what is the reason for the rebound ?

If it's valuation or short covering, it will take longer than you think, sometimes months if not years ....

Need to reind myself that the falling knife can turn into a falling safe.

So it's better for me to let it touch the floor first, stabilized and then only take my time to buy, only when the rebound has started and not before ...

A friend told me that his hands are very itchy and must buy today.

I told him that I have no idea whether this would be a Black Swan event or things can only get better from here.

My final advice was that maybe he should stagger his buying into 4 portions, if his fear is so great that he will miss the boat.

That way, he still have some more bullets in case the Black Swan appear, while putting some ointment on his itchy fingers in the meantime.

I am playing whac-a-mole for a little longer.
1. Always wait for the setup. NO SETUP; NO TRADE

2. The trend will END but I don't know WHEN.

TOL:-

I have not been too good at catching falling knives.

I tend to be always too early. Maybe I'm afraid of missing the boat.

Need to remind myself again, that I should let the knife hit the ground first and the best spot to buy is actually at S2 or S3, not S1.

So let the knife bounce off S1 first and then see where is S2.

If S2 is lower than S1 then wait to see where S3 is.

Only when the next support is at a level above the previous support then should I try to pick things.

Will I ever learn ? Can you really teach new tricks to "old dogs" ?
