Asset Allocation 01 (Jun 09 - Jul 13)

The following is my current asset allocation compared to my AA in my first post in 2 Jun 09.

Let's imagine that I have SGD100 worth of assets, and everything is priced in SGD.

Assets | 2 Jun 09 | 31 Jul 09
----------------------------
Cash | $15.52 | $16.26
Singapore Portfolio | $70.36 | $70.32
US Portfolio | $14.12 | $13.42

Liabilities | 2 Jun 09 | 31 Jul 09
------------------------------
USD Loan | $12.56 | $11.78

Futures exposure (negative indicates a short position) | 2 Jun 09 | 31 Jul 09
-------------------------------------------------------------------------
SIMSCI | -$6.52 | -$7.46
Crude Oil | $5.58 | $6.62
Gold | -$0.89 | Nil

STI went up about 300 points from my first post to now, from 2375.82 to 2659.2. 300 points is not a very big change to me, so the adjustments are quite small. Basically, as the equity portion increases due to the market rising, I trim it by selling off some shares, so as to maintain or reduce my allocation in equities, while raising cash. Also, I increased my short positions on the simsci. Crude oil occupies a bigger portion than before, since its value has risen and I have not sold the contracts that I have.

I suspect those are the correct numbers in your portfolio, but there's a typo in "SGD100".

Probably more like " in SGD '00,000 "... :D :D :D

You also haven't shared how many barrels of crude you have in your cellar! :D :D :D

on 2 posts above... i must get a forensic analyst to decipher the exposure and the overall bias you have on the markets... that short post probably will take a month to analyze, longer than for me to read four 500 paged books ...

BC : maybe easier i invite you to a kopi-o-kosong...i let others interested to handle the sugar and guni portions...wahahaha..

Haha, those numbers are just percentages, since we are talking about asset allocation. I keep track of my percentages because I adjust them periodically according to the market situation and what I plan to do :)

Haha, no need to know the absolute number la... cuz whether I have SGD 100, or SGD 100,000, I still invest the same way.

Hi Kenny,

Nice illustration of your asset allocation. Didnt know you had so much invested in Singapore, as I thought you are more into the US markets. However, your assets allocated to the US market is much more than mine :)

I see... I don't own a house yet. I also have not decided how much percentage of my assets I want to allocate for my property. Still waiting long long for a property crash before I go into this area.
