Getting rich is not the result of saving, or “thrift”; many very penurious people are poor, while free spenders often get rich.

This book is almost 100 years old and I must say that it's way ahead of it's time ...

The Science of Getting Rich by Wallace D.Wattles
April 1, 1910

Summary:-

1) THERE is a thinking stuff from which all things are made, and which, in its original state, permeates, penetrates, and fills the interspaces of the universe.

2) A thought, in this substance, produces the thing that is imaged by the thought.

3) Man can form things in his thought, and, by impressing his thought upon formless substance, can cause the thing he thinks about to be created.

4) In order to do this, man must pass from the competitive to the creative mind; otherwise he cannot be in harmony with the Formless Intelligence, which is always creative and never competitive in spirit.

5) Man may come into full harmony with the Formless Substance by entertaining a lively and sincere gratitude for the blessings it bestows upon him. Gratitude unifies the mind of man with the intelligence of Substance, so that man’s thoughts are received by the Formless.

6) Man can remain upon the creative plane only by uniting himself with the Formless Intelligence through a deep and continuous feeling of gratitude.

7) Man must form a clear and definite mental image of the things he wished to have, to do, or to become; and he must hold this mental image in his thoughts, while being deeply grateful to the Supreme that all his desires are granted to him.

8) The man who wishes to get rich must spend his leisure hours in contemplating his Vision, and in earnest thanksgiving that the reality is being given to him.

9) Too much stress cannot be laid on the importance of frequent contemplation of the mental image, coupled with unwavering faith and devout gratitude. This is the process by which the impression is given to the Formless, and the creative forces set in motion.

10) The creative energy works through the established channels of natural growth, and of the industrial and social order. All that is included in his mental image will surely be brought to the man who follows the instructions given above, and whose faith does not waver.

11) What he wants will come to him through the ways of established trade and commerce. In order to receive his own when it shall come to him, man must be active; and this activity can only consist in more than filling his present place.

12) He must keep in mind the Purpose and get rich through the realization of his mental image. And he must do, every day, all that can be done that day, taking care to do each act in a successful manner.

13) He must give to every man a use value in excess of the cash value he receives, so that each transaction makes for more life; and he must so hold the Advancing Thought that the impression of Increase will be communicated to all with whom he comes in contact.

14) The men and women who practice the foregoing instructions will certainly get rich; and the riches they receive will be in exact proportion to the definiteness of their vision, the fixity of their purpose, the steadiness of their faith, and the depth of their gratitude.

As you practice your more positive, better-feeling story, in time your pleasure will become the dominant vibration within you, and then as you couple your pleasure with your means of earning, the two will blend perfectly and enhance each other.

There is no better way to earn money than to do the things that you love to do. Money can flow into your experience through endless avenues. It is not the choice of the craft that limits the money that flows—but only your attitude toward money.

"The Secret" of "Think and Grow Rich" by Anita Koch

First published in 1937, Napoleon Hill’s Think and Grow Rich is reported to have sold over 70,000,000 copies. Written at the time of the Great Depression, application of the principles in Think and Grow Rich is as significant today as it was over 60 years ago.

Napoleon Hill challenges the reader to discover the “money-making secret” mentioned in each and every chapter of the book. With the release of The Secret many have come to believe that the Law of Attraction is the “money-making secret” to which Napoleon Hill refers.

The basic consensus of Law of Attraction believers is that your thoughts, both conscious and unconscious, create what happens in your life. While I believe that it is vitally important that we focus our thoughts on what we would like to become reality in our lives, how can we control our unconscious thoughts?

The opening paragraph on Think and Grow Rich states, “Truly, thoughts are things, and powerful things at that, when they are mixed with definiteness of purpose, persistence, and a burning desire for their translation into riches, or other material objects.”

After many years of study, I have come to the conclusion that the only way to ultimately control our unconscious thoughts is to make the diligent practice of monitoring and controlling our conscious thoughts a habit until our unconscious thoughts support our positive goals, desires and dreams.

Unfortunately, most adults tend to be more negative than positive. This tendency may be linked to the results of a UCLA study that revealed that the average one year old child hears the word “no” more than 400 times per day! Most of us have the tendency to think about, talk about and focus on what we don’t want rather than what we do.

If you truly want to “think and grow rich” then your first step will be to take the time and the effort to begin to become aware of the words you speak and the thoughts behind those words that are either leading you to your fortune or sending you in the opposite direction.

In his book What To Say When You Talk To Yourself, Shad Helmstetter says, “Leading behavioral researchers have told us that as much as seventy-seven percent of everything we think is negative, counterproductive, and works against us.”

When you make the effort to begin to really listen to what it is you’re saying to yourself, you may be shocked. You may find that you say things to yourself that you would never even consider saying to a family member or friend.

If someone else said to you some of the things that you’ll discover that you’re saying to yourself, those statements would cause fights and/or tears. You may even be the person who is always caring and supportive when someone else is in a difficult situation, but put yourself in the very same situation and you may find your own self talk to be anything but caring and supportive.

Awareness of your critical self talk is the first step toward the change that will allow you to “think and grow rich.”

The key to success in any endeavor is “right thinking.” Our thoughts produce our philosophies and beliefs which then drive our attitude. Our attitude drives our actions which then determine our results. Those results become our lifestyle. To have the lifestyle of your dreams, begin with “right thinking.”

Why Attracting Money Is All About Rubbish by Chantal Cooke

We are currently living in a time where you cannot turn on the news without hearing another sad tale of the “credit crunch”. Most of us know of someone, if not ourselves, who has been made redundant or has been asked to work fewer hours. Our high streets are littered with closed down shops and businesses. Our savings have diminished in value and lines of credit have simply dried up.

And we’re all ready to blame someone else for the mess we’re in. We blame the banks, the greedy City traders or the Government.

But according to Marie-Claire Carlyle, author of “How to Become a Money Magnet”, whilst we are pointing the finger at others, we are distracted from looking at ourselves. And whilst we are using our energy to cast blame on others, we have less energy for ourselves.

“If you keep your focus on bad news, you will only ever see bad news. Shift your focus and keep a look out for the good news – the companies who are thriving and adding to their staff, or the people you know who have found what they love to do and have turned it into a successful business, maybe even financed by a redundancy payment. The good news is out there if you decide to see it – I promise you” says Marie-Claire.

“When we stop blaming others and choose instead to take responsibility for our own status, then we can start to become a Money Magnet, irrespective of external circumstances.”

So ask yourself; are you taking in all the negativity or have you found a way to stay positive amid the gloom?

Marie-Claire believes that the credit crunch is a “heaven sent” opportunity for us to clear out our clutter and get focused on what we really want to be doing.

“Our negative thoughts are a form of clutter, and clutter gets in the way of our true potential. Clutter, whether it’s in our homes, our bodies, our lives or in our thoughts, clouds us from our purpose and clarity. Remember the lightness you felt when you last cleared some clutter in your home, office or car? If you have ever done a detox programme, you will know how much clearer your thoughts became. Clutter is a distraction.” explains Marie-Claire.

In many ways, the recession that we are currently experiencing is a chance to clear out our clutter and to get back to what is really important.

Don’t blame the “credit crunch” for your current situation, no matter how tempting it may be. The economic climate is too convenient an excuse for you to do nothing. Instead use it as a way to clear out your clutter.

When we blame external circumstances or even other people for our situation, we place ourselves in the role of “victim”. You are not a victim. You are the “Director” of your own life. You have the power to change your world.

The money is already there. The only thing preventing you from being rich is you.

Marie-Claire has devised a quick checklist to discover whether you are a “poor me” or a “lucky me”?

• Is your glass half full or half empty?
• Are you saving for a rainy day or for an unexpected holiday?
• Do you love your job or is it just a way to pay the bills?
• Is your financial situation all the fault of someone else or are you proud of what you have achieved?
• Do you hold regrets or are you happy for the learning experiences?
• Is it all their fault or were you steering your own ship?
• Is it all down to the recession, or to your own personal choices?
• Are you destined to continue as you are or do you see new opportunity around every corner?
• Are you adopting the news of the day or do you have your own vision of the world?
• How do you feel when it’s raining? Pleased for the plants or miserable because you forgot your umbrella?

If you have discovered you are a poor me then its time to flip it around and see the positive side and look for the opportunity. Unless you change your world view the world around you won’t change.

Money and Alignment by Marie C. Barrett

To recognize the spiritual aspect of money is to align with its flow in your life. Money is intrinsically neither good nor bad, neither valuable nor worthless except to the degree to which we recognize and assign it as such. Money is energy, as are all things.

It has value only when it can be exchanged for goods and services. If you had a briefcase full of money when you were marooned on a desert island, chances are you would burn it to cook with rather than store it away and never use it.

Money is a convenient and simple tool we use to trade for goods and services with others. The community assigns the benchmark level of value of a trade, and we can accept or barter with that assigned value. Money is a very convenient and clever tool we have conveniently and cleverly created to make our life flow smoothly.

Imagine having to come up with 20 camels in exchange for a car, or having to do 10 hours of gardening in exchange for the weekly groceries. If for no other reason, we should kiss our money before we hand it over as our quota of exchange, as it serves us so deftly.

So why do we assign so many negative vibes to such an excellent convenience? Our attitude to money reflects how we allow or disallow it to flow around us. Notice I say flow around. As all energy must move to keep its momentum, to hold it in existence, if you like, so too with money.

Money stashed away under the bed is useless to anyone. That same currency set to work in trading for life’s necessities and delights of experience, is far more useful and beneficial to the rest of the community. What goes around, comes around is indeed a truism.

The level of financial abundance we enjoy reflects the value of our contribution to society. Now don’t jump in with your objections just yet. Of course you can work pro bono; you can do voluntary work for the benefit of others and not exchange your efforts for money.

But if you offer genuine value and service to others, by the universal law of reciprocity, you will receive the kind of useful abundance you desire. As water seeks its own level, so your offering of energy, be it money, service or goods, will attract a similar and equitable transfer.

Many ask what is the secret to abundance and wealth. Well fundamentally life runs according to simple laws. But for the sheer drama of it, we complicate life, and thereby block energy from flowing, be that money, love, fun, relationships or health.

When we realize it is our task to see what we can contribute to society rather than take from it, we will discover a new and joyous freedom of being in alignment with universal flow, and therefore with the flow of money.

Support from the universe to give us prosperity is never greater than when our hearts are open with compassion for others, love for ourselves and gratitude. When you are at peace, and in this spiritually attuned space, you will inevitably attract abundance – money, love, fun, health and happiness.

So appreciate money; it serves you well and is a symbol of how you allow energy to move in your life. Keep it moving, align with it and enjoy the flow.

6 Simple Secrets to Manifesting Financial Wealth Today by Jack Canfield

There are many principles—“secrets”—about money and success that will serve you well if you want to increase your wealth. Above all, however, is to first make it a priority. Make your want of manifesting financial wealth a clear intention. So many people feel guilty about earning, spending and investing more money. Or they think wealth just happens without any intention or effort.

Moreover, recent economic events have made many people believe that there is a finite amount of money in the world. That is not true. More wealth is being created every day. The supply of money is truly infinite once you apply certain principles that have made millionaires and billionaires over and over again. There are people out in the world that are making hundreds of millions of dollars a year!

Secondly, I recommend that you study the laws of money and finance – both the spiritual laws of abundance and prosperity consciousness, as well as the world of investing. Read books, listen to CDs, take seminars. I read at least one book a week, often more, in the areas of law of attraction, principles of success, finance and investing, psychology, relationships and spiritual growth.

You can also join an investment club. Your local library or bookstore can get you started. Peruse the business, self-help, and psychology sections. You’ll find lots of materials to begin your studies.

Thirdly, I would ask you to take the time to clarify what wealthy means to you. For some people $100,000 a year would make them feel wealthy. For someone else, wealthy might mean $20 million in the bank. So take time to sit down and write out a complete description of your ideal wealthy life. What does that word mean to you? How do you see yourself as wealthy?

The third thing is that if you want to make a lot of money, you have to play a game where lots of money is made. You will not become a multi-millionaire being a preschool teacher. You can argue that preschool teachers are more valuable than professional baseball players, and you would probably be right, but it doesn’t matter. It is what it is.

As Byron Katie teaches, when you argue with reality, you always lose. So you have to enter into an arena where money can be made. You could join a network marketing company. I met a man not too long ago who lost his job as a mortgage broker and his home during the financial collapse last year. Now, less than 6 months later, he is on track to make $300,000 in 2009 as a distributor for MonaVie. He has built up a huge down line in less than half a year. He is leveraging his income through the efforts of others that he has enrolled and caused to be enrolled in the business.

Another principle of wealth building is to expand the impact of your service. Reach more people and serve them more fully. Here is where the Internet can be a great accelerator in building wealth and building it quickly. One of the people I write about in The Success Principles makes millions of dollars a year selling pool tables on eBay. He is serving thousands of people a year through the power of the Internet.

Another student of mine has started an Internet-based business selling urine tests that parents can use to see if their teenagers used drugs while out that night. Take a course on Internet marketing. You’ll find hundreds of them listed on Google. My own seminar business began to skyrocket after I started doing a free tele-seminar on the first Wednesday of every month. We have had as many as 4,000 people on that call. (If you’d like to join us, go to www.AskJackCanfield.com. You can even submit a question that you would like me to answer.)

Yet another principle of wealth building is to find a need and fill it. There are all kinds of businesses that have been built around seeing a need and fulfilling it. One company I know picks up people’s dry cleaning off a hook beside their front door, delivers it to the dry cleaners, and then returns it, saving people a lot of time.

There are personal shoppers, restaurant delivery services that deliver for 30 different restaurants, people who prepare all your organic or raw food for a week and deliver it in containers that just need to be heated up. My favorite story is that of an Avery Label salesman, who discovered that his restaurant clients wanted preprinted labels with the days of the week printed on them so they could label what day their fresh produce had arrived so that they could know which fruits and vegetables to use first, thus reducing spoilage.

When Avery said, “We are not in the printing business,” the salesman bought a small printer and began printing labels on the weekends. This weekend business, which was started in his garage, eventually grew into a company called Day Dots, which printed and sold millions of printed labels a day. He eventually sold his business for tens of millions of dollars!

Finally, if you are going to become wealthy, you must save and invest at least 10% of every dollar you earn. Stop amassing debt. Become disciplined in saving and investing. Live within your means. You must find ways to get your money working for you. In addition to The Success Principles, I suggest you read The Automatic Millionaire by David Bach. You’ll find both of these books, by the way, in the sections I mentioned above worth investigating at your local library or book store.
