Important Traits

These are important traits for those who want to be superior investors:

• Be cautious, for nothing is certain;
• Be humble, for reality is infinitely complex;
• Be intellectually curious and open-minded;
• Value diverse views and synthesize them into your own;
• Believe it's possible to get better.

Remember, forecasts are judgments based on available information and should be updated in light of changing information.

Be prepared to change your mind when the facts change.

Why You Need More Than Smarts in the Stock Market By Alexander Green

“Investing is not a game where the guy with the 160 IQ beats the guy with the 130 IQ.”

A smart strategy is required, yes.

But so is patience, perspective… and a cast-iron stomach.

The Million-Dollar Question You Must Ask Yourself Before You Invest

By Kristin Haugk

Here are some steps you can follow for creating financial goals today:

1. Determine your own “why.” Why are you investing? You may have several reasons – retirement, a new car or college tuition.

2. Set specific and measurable goals. Do not set too many at once – it can easily become overwhelming. Set timelines and prioritize.

3. Write down your goals and hold yourself accountable. By setting personal goals, you are no longer benchmarked against the markets. You are benchmarked against your own standards.

4. Celebrate small victories along the way. Set yourself up for a cycle of success.

5. Reevaluate periodically. If your goals have changed, it may be time to change your investment strategies.
